Breaking The Chains
by momoxtoshiro is a RWBY oneshot that acts as an alternate version of the Blake vs Adam fight in Volume 6. In it, instead of Blake fighting alongside Yang, she fights alongside Weiss.
While trying to disable an Atlas tower alongside Weiss, Blake finds that Adam has caught up to her. The two get into a life-and-death fight. Feeling that something is off, Weiss runs back to Blake and finds her fighting Adam. Weiss joins Blake to help take him down.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Alternate Universe Fic: Instead of Yang coming to help Blake fight Adam, Weiss tags along with Blake and encounters Adam with her.
- Domestic Abuse: Implied between Blake and Adam. He has a history of emotionally manipulating Blake.
- Fantastic Racism: The topic of anti-Faunus racism is a focal point of the fic due to Adam's history with Schnee's.
- Implied Love Interest: The story is not listed as a Blake/Weiss story but there's an air of shipping to it. Much of the dialogue is lifted straight from Blake and Yang's romantically tinged dialogue.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Weiss tries to underplay her injuries from Adam as "just a scratch", but Blake sees through it and heals her anyway.
