Blue Beetle Rolls Out
is a Blue Beetle crossover with Transformers: Animated written by Epiclot214.
In this fic, Jamie Reyes becomes the next Blue Beetle after being bonded to the Scarab, Khaji Dah, and fights alongside Optimus Prime and his rag-tag team of Autobots to protect the Earth and the Allspark from the Decepticons and many supervillains.
- Adaptational Backstory Change: Dr. Otto Von Furth becomes Plasmus when he accidentally merges with the Sumdac Systems nanobots.
- Adaptational Origin Connection: Ted Kord and Isaac Sumdac are friends in this universe, or at least they were before the latter's death.
- Ascended Fanboy: As the Scarab notes to Jaime after they bond, he's often fantasized about being a hero like the Justice Society of America, and now he's the new Blue Beetle.
- Better as Friends: Jamie and Traci went out for a while before they ultimately decided they'd be better off as this.
- Conspiracy Theorist: Uncle Rudy is this towards Issac Sumdac, believing him to be hiding something, since he never reveals where his robotic empire came from and when asked always gives a vague answer. And he's not wrong...
- Eviler than Thou: After Issac Sumdac once again refuses to sell Sumdac Systems to Victoria Kord and her "Mad Uncle" Jarvis, the woman warns him that he's much worse then she is.
- Freudian Slip: While trying to wake up a knocked out Jamie on the train, Uncle Rudy calls him by his name. Unfortunately, Jamie's friends Paco and Traci were apparently on board the train as well and hear him, ultimately finding out Jamie's identity as Blue Beetle.
- Fusion Fic: Like all of Epiclot214's fics, the worlds of Blue Beetle and Transformers Animated are merged, with the Scarab, Khaji Dah, being aware of the existence of Cybertronians.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Dan Garrett manages to force Megatron off the Autobot ship as they're entering Earth's atmosphere, but experiences re-entry himself, and dies not long after he and the Decepticon leader hit the ground.
- Legacy Character: As in canon, Jaime is the third Blue Beetle, though only the second to use the Scarab.
- Mistaken Identity: When the Autobots first meet Jamie, they initially assume that he's Dan Garrett, since they don't know he died. It takes a little while for the Scarab to explain things to Jaime enough that he understands what's going on and manages to clear things up.
- Precocious Crush: Sari develops one on Jamie.
- Secret-Keeper: Jamie's friends Paco and Traci find out that he's Blue Beetle, thanks to Uncle Rudy.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Dan Garrett, the original Blue Beetle, is only in chapter 1 before he passes away following his crash-landing to Earth as a result of forcing Megatron off of the Autobots' ship and being found by a young Ted Kord and Isaac Sumdac. He then tells the former to take care of the scarab before dying.
- Taking the Bullet: When Starscream tries to fire a blast at Sari, Jaime jumps in the path of the attack.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Paco and Traci berate Jamie for keeping his identity as the Blue Beetle from them. After he explains that it would put them in danger, noting Starscream's attack and how he most likely will return as well as other Decepticons and other dangerous threats, the two reluctantly admit he had a good reason to. However, they state that they're going to help him out with his heroics, danger or no danger.
- Very Punchable Man: Both Dan and the Scarab think that Sentinel has a very 'punchable face'.
- You Didn't Ask: After he's accidentally transported to the Autobots location, the scarab activities a system that allows Dan Garrett to safely breathe in space. When Dan says that he didn't know it could do that, the Scarab's response is this.
