Go To

Battle for Dream Island Again Do Over is a Battle for Dream Island fanfic written by xebla (for the first 8 episodes) and Richmountain 112 (9+). 24 (originally 22) contestants are battling for Dream Island, which still doesn’t have an owner.

Episodes 1-8 can be found here, and 9-11 (Now deprecated, read the AO3 version instead) here. The Object Show Fanon Pedia page is here! An Archive of Our Own port is also underway here, and all future chapters will be posted there (link).

This work contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Jerkass: In BFB, Black Hole was kind and the most normal. In this fic, he was rude to Pen and Dora, and manipulative to Puffball.
  • Adapted Out: Nickel, Spongy, and Firey don't compete in the season, being replaced with TV, Black Hole, and Pen. Subverted with Firey, though, as he becomes host.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: Donut, Gelatin, and Fries are food, and Donut was used as Cake for Cake at Stake in BFDIADO 5(a).
  • Anyone Can Die: Pretty much true for everyone, and the HPRC means that Death is Cheap.Well, mostly…
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: The Puffball Speaker Box, while still being nice to the contestants, was adapted into a jerkass, insulting Firey by saying that the show would be better without him as well as sending Brambleclaw and Mistyfoot to the TLC, indirectly causing her murder in the next episode.
  • Break the Cutie: Ruby after Pencil gets pissed off at her due to making a mistake that got her team up for elimination.
  • Canon Foreigner:
    • Before this was retconned, Brambleclaw, the ThunderClan Deputy at the time of joining, joined in "Camp YoyleStone".
    • Hawkfrost, too, also has a major role. Unlike his original depiction, he has made friends with Yellow Face during their commercials, but has also became more like Blockynote , making him more like Blocky in some aspects because Death Is Cheap.
  • Canon Immigrant: Profily has some lines in BFDIADO, but he was completely ignored altogether.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Over time, the show gets darker and more sad. Pin even lampshaded, but it was Downplayed in BFDIADO 9. It spiked up in BFDIADO 10, though, with Blizzard mentioning that Dream Island is unnecessary, much to the horror of the other contestants.
  • Cool People Rebel Against Authority: Gelatin, Pen, and Fries leave Team No-Name because of Golf Ball's strict attitude.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Exaggerated — Firey's reaction to Hawkfrost's prank was this, outright scolding him for it.
  • Elimination Houdini: In-Universe — Although Match was supposed to be eliminated in BFDIADO 5(a), Pencil tied a rope to her and prevented her elimination to the TLC. This ends up backfiring in BFDIADO 5(e) when Firey found out she was still competing and was truly flung to the TLC.
  • Freudian Excuse:
    • The reason the original contestants act more cruel towards each other is due to the fact that since Dream Island is gone, they have to compete again and might never find the island. Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost are completely unaware about this, though.
    • Coiny and Firey also hate each other due to such an excuse, too, though the Ao3 version implies that Leafy was somehow involved in their drama in chapter 5c. Played Straight in the FF.net version, though.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: Mothwing ends up suffering this while in the TLC, and acts more of a Jerkass later on when she escapes the Tower Rave of Loser Luxuries.
  • Jerkass Realization: Golf Ball has one when her teammates get angry at her for trying to win by abandoning them. Downplayed with Pin’s elimination in BFDIADO 11, though.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Although Black Hole tricked Puffball into giving away her team just to get prizesnote , he did point out Ice Cube's flaws so she could get better.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Match, who pretty much acts the same as in canon, including not caring about Tennis Ball shattering while Pin flings people off the Eiffel Tower (only on the Ao3 version)
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Match and Bubble also manage to pull this off by grabbing Gelatin and putting him on top of their heads. The best part? Firey actually falls for it, even for Bubble! Later subverted at the end of the episode, though, as they are both eliminated to the TLC.
  • Line Boil: Dora, who usually doesn't move while speaking.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Yellow Face, just like in the canon BFDIA. Downplayed in later episodes, though.
  • The Leader: Pencil for FreeSmart. Once she gets eliminated, she picks Ruby to replace her.
  • Resurrection/Death Loop: Coiny attempts one on Firey, and Bomby triggers it after Coiny decided to quit it.
  • Resurrection Gambit / Seeks Another's Resurrection: The Kill-and-Recover trick is basically a combination of this, and was done twice in BFDIADO 5e on the Ao3 version, first with Yellow Face and WOAH Bunch, and again with Pencil and FreeSmart with the Fish Monster grabbing her. The original also has this with Black Hole sucking up WOAH Bunch to get to Yoyle Mountain more quickly.
  • Retcon: Blizzard, Tundra, Mistyfoot, Hawkfrost, Mothwing, and Brambleclaw only show up in deleted scenes. And the very existence of IDFB has also been retconned because BFDIADO made it past episode 5.
  • Sadist Show: Richmountain112 turned the Darker and Edgier portions of his episodes in later episodes into Black Comedynote .
  • Suicide as Comedy: Coiny tells Yellow Face to die after seeing that he is stuck to pull off the Kill-and-Recover trick.
  • The Unintelligible: Dora speaks super fast Spanish. Lampshaded by Pen, who said he couldn’t understand her in Episode 2.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Firey got more and more sadistic over time, especially after Coiny's elimination.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Donut and Teardrop, just like in the canon BFDIA, but Dora does not suffer this trope because Dora gets a little more screen time than the original and even rejoins in "Mine Your Own Business".
