And Hell Followed After Him
is a Ranma fanfiction (for the most part) by Harbinger of Kaos.
The premise is simple: what happens when Ranma falls victim to a conspiracy spearheaded by Cologne (with Mousse, Kuno, and Ryoga as her co-conspirators) and is banished to Hell? What happens after a century of being tortured (with only ten years passing on Earth), Ranma returns as the Spirit of Vengeance, the Ghost Rider, to wreak vengeance on those who banished him and nearly destroyed his family?
This fanfic has the following tropes:
- A Fate Worse Than Death: For the gods who took pleasure in Ranma's torment, they were sentenced to live as humans for the next 100 years, "To have them experience every single facet of humanity from birth to death, joy and sorrow, love and loss times 10."
- Affably Evil: Boss Chang, true to form.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: The bad guys, when they realize just how screwed they are when dealing with Ranma in Ghost Rider mode.
- Always a Bigger Fish: The gods of the various pantheons are watching Rider!Ranma with growing alarm as he takes his revenge.
- An Arm and a Leg:
- Rider!Ranma de-legs Mousse, thus removing him as a threat. He also de-wings Saffron in the most gruesome manner.
- Sasuke lost his arm when his attempt to rescue Kodachi failed.
- The Bad Guy Wins: At least, in the beginning. Ranma's enemies send him to Hell, and make his family's lives a living hell. Mousse had no qualms about gloating this to Ranma in their final confrontation.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: Ranma agrees to Rock's request to spare the leaders of Roanapur's criminal underworld.
- Big Damn Heroes: Rider!Ranma saves Shampoo's life by tanking a ki blast from Saffron.
- Big Damn Kiss:
- Trish lays a huge wet one on Ranma following the completion of his training,
Trish: A little something to remember me by and to make those bad memories go away.Kratos: She is a wild one that one, much like Aphrodite.- Nabiki also gives Ranma a smooch when he visits her and those who had died in the Nerima Massacre.
- Big Good: The One Above All.
- The Dragon: Ryoga is this to Mousse.
- Cool Teacher: Team Devil May Cry (Dante, Nero, Lucia and Lady), and Kratos train Ranma in their respective styles.
- Cosmic Plaything: Ranma, as his suffering provides entertainment for the more amoral gods.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Revy and Eda vs Ranma. Ranma wins.
- Defiant to the End: Not even a century of hellish torture on Mephistopholes' orders could break Ranma.
- Didn't Think This Through: Cologne and her co-conspirators send Ramma to Hell, because he was becoming too powerful. They just didn't consider Ranma coming back as the Ghost Rider to exact revenge.
- Disproportionate Retribution: What happens when Nerima's resident aquatransexual becomes to powerful? Cast a spell that sends him kicking and screaming to Hell.
- Dragged Off to Hell: What kicks off the plot.
- Forced to Watch: When Sasuke failed to rescue Kodachi Kuno from the mental institution, Kuno forced him to watch as Kodachi was violated by Mousse, Ryoga and Taro.
- Groin Attack: Ranma does this to Ryoga by sticking his revolver inside Ryoga's pants and pulling the trigger.
- I Gave My Word: Ranma promised Rock that no harm would come to Revy, Eda, and the leaders of Roanapur's criminal underworld (along with their respective underlings) during his confrontation with Mousse. The mooks that accompanied then, on the other hand...
- I Lied: After Rider!Ranma decimated Roanapur's criminal underworld, he has Mousse at his mercy. Mousse begs for mercy, which leads to the Spirit of Vengeance going full Darkman on the disgraced Amazon:Mousse: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.Ranma!Rider: (lifting Mousse to his face) I know you are Mousse, I know…BUT LETS PRETEND YOU AREN'T!
- I Warned You: Spoken to Chang verbatim, by Rider!Ranma.
- Karmic Jackpot: Rock gets his when Revy and Eda reward him with a threesome for standing up to Ranma. It ends with Rock in a relationship with both women.
- More Dakka: Rider!Ranma sees the firepower of Roanapur's most deadliest assassins and their respective factions as nothing more than an annoyance, much to the detriment of everyone doing the shooting.
- Morton's Fork:
- Rider!Ranma demands that the Amazons hand over Cologne or he will kill them all. The Amazons quickly acquiesced to his demands after watching him manhandle Saffron by ripping off his wings.
- Rider!Ranma delivers one to Chang: Hand over Mousse, or blood will flow in the streets of Roanapur. He wasn't bluffing.
- Oh, Crap!:
- The general reaction when those responsible for Ranma's fall discover that Ranma has returned.
- Chang, when he realized that Ranma survived the Triad's ambush.
- Balalaika, Chang, their respective Mooks and most of Roanapur's heavy hitters get this reaction when shooting Ranma fails.
- Rape and Revenge: Nabiki is raped to death and both Kodachi and Akari are also violated. Ranma gets revenge for all three girls.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Ranma's ultimate goal, not only to avenge himself, but also his fallen friends.
- This Cannot Be!: Mousse's reaction upon hearing that Ranma has returned.Mousse: No, no, no nononono, he can't have escaped, he shouldn't have! He was supposed to go away! We made sure of it!
- One-Man Army: Ranma Saotome as the Ghost Rider, natch.
- Touché:
- Balalaika makes a valid point when Chang objects to handing over Mousse to Ranma in order to stop the latter's rampage through Roanapur...
Chang: You are forgetting gentlemen and lady that while he is here he is my responsibility.Balalaika: And if I'm not mistaken Chang, your responsibility has cost us manpower and resources and made us look like fools, will you take THAT responsibility as well?Chang: …I need to make a phone call, excuse me.- Not that the Pantheon is any better in their plans to either capture or rein Ranma in. When Kami suggests sending emissaries to negotiate with Ranma, we get this exchange:
Mephisto: Humph, and who will be stupid enough to volunteer for that? The boy could very well attack first rather than talk.Hild: And whose fault is that hmm? Because of you and the others we are in this position, why if I had half a mind I would skin you lot alive, roll you in a vat of salt acid and throw you into the pit of Hellhounds for at least 10 centuries!Lucifer: As much as I am loathe to admit it my Lady…he does raise a valid point, who can we send that won't incite and attack? - Will They or Won't They?: Who does Rock choose between Revy and Eda? Answer: both of them.
- Year Outside, Hour Inside: For the hundred years Ranma spent in Hell, a decade has passed on the outside.
- You Owe Me: Mephistopheles attemps this on Ranma. It doesn't stick.
