Midoriya Izuku was like all kids his age. ... okay, that was a big, fat lie. Midoriya Izuku was nothing like other kids his age.

Based heavily off King of Beasts by Primordial Vortex, A Green Dragon's Hoard is a My Hero Academia fanfic that features an Izuku who is physically an almost exact clone of Kaido "King of the Beasts". At least his mother doesn't have to worry about him getting hurt.

Can be read here on FanFiction.Net and here on Archive of Our Own.

This fic contains examples of the following tropes, in addition to those already present in the source material:

  • A Rare Sentence: When discussing how the match will go between Iida and Shoto versus Ochako and Shoji, Tsuyu brings up how hard it will be for the former to sneak up on the latter.
Tsuyu: And I don't think they can sneak in on them if Shōji-chan can hear them with his arms' ears. (Beat) Quirks are weird.
  • Accidental Aiming Skills: After kicking the head off a Zero Pointer, Izuku causes it to hit another Zero Pointer in an entirely different area by pure chance, saving a number of examinees.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Inko and Hisashi simply had a drunken one night stand, unlike canon where they're married.
    • Nemuri is Inko's wife and Izuku's stepmother rather than just the latter's teacher.
    • Mitsuki is Izuku's girlfriend rather than just the mother of his friend/rival/bully.
    • Rather than a minor villain, Manami Aiba is Izuku's childhood babysitter, semi-adoptive sister, and another of his girlfriends.
    • Inko is a friend of Manami's via an online forum they both frequent.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Melissa Shield is the ninth holder of One For All.
    • Even before considering his actual quirk, Izuku is a Lightning Bruiser far beyond what his canon self is capable of.
  • Adaptational Curves:
    • In canon, Izuku is highly muscular (even if it only shows when he's shirtless). Here, he's built exactly like Kaido, making him akin to a wall of muscle.
    • Inko has a considerably larger bust than she does in canon.
    • Manami was fairly busty in canon, but in this story her breasts are explicitly stated to be larger than her head.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Rather than a minor villain, Manami is a licensed hero.
  • Adaptational Job Change: A stay at home mom in the source material, here Inko runs a costume and support items company.
  • Adaptational Sexuality:
    • Nemuri and Inko are a couple in this story while they never met in canon.
    • Mitsuki is bisexual while her canon counterpart was married to Masaru Bakugo.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change:
    • Izuku's Quirk is based on Kaido, granting him massively increased size, strength, and durability along with the ability to turn into a massive chinese dragon.
    • Due to Adaptation Relationship Overhaul, Mitsuki has an explosion Quirk while her father Katsuki has an oxidizing Quirk.
    • Ochako, due to being based on her prototype design, has a Sizeshifter Quirk rather than Gravity Master.
    • A minor example occurs with Manami Aiba, whose Quirk can now be activated with a kiss as well as telling someone she loves them.
  • Age Lift:
    • Mitsuki is Izuku's age rather than over twenty years his senior due to her and Katsuki having switched places, with her as Katsuki's daughter.
    • Inko is eight years younger than canon, being 19 when Izuku is born rather than 27.
    • Rumi Usagiyama is 11 years younger, being Izuku's age instead of 26.
    • Melissa Shield is two years younger than canon.
  • Animorphism:
    • Izuku can transform into a dragon and presumably a hybrid form as well.
    • Yamato can turn into an Okuchi no Makami (or at least something that looks like it) as well has a half-human hybrid form.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • Nemuri is Izuku's stepmother, having married Inko, and the Class-1A homeroom teacher rather than just their art history teacher.
    • Mitsuki Bakugou is changed from a minor character to Izuku's best friend and one of his girlfriends, due to having swapped places with Katsuki.
    • Similarly, Manami Aiba was a one-off Anti-Villain in canon. Here, she's an online friend of Inko's whom she hires to look after Izuku. Manami later becomes Izuku's and Mitsuki's girlfriend.
    • Melissa Shield is the ninth holder of One For All instead of a movie-only character.
    • Rumi Usagiyama is nearly a decade younger and a member of Class 1A as opposed to an established hero that doesn't debut until season four.
    • Himiko is a member of class 1-A rather than a recurring villain.
  • Berserk Button:
    • The first time we see Inko and Izuko truly angry is when they learn that Hagakure's 'costume' consists of gloves and boots. Inko is a professional support items designer, and is furious at all the implications of this, and raised Izuku with similar values.
    • Midnight loathes Mineta's perversion, and he keeps tap-dancing over this button.
  • Bigger Is Better in Bed: Zigzagged. Izuku is implied to be well endowed relative to his size, but by the time he enrolls in U.A., the boy is eighteen feet tall (5.5m). While his girlfriends are definitely interested, they also acknowledge they physically can't have sex with him and are implied to have difficulty getting him off at all. Especially Manami who's only 3'8" (111cm). Izuku's male classmates note they actually pity rather than envy him, citing that he's just way too big.
  • Blessed with Suck: Izuku has Super-Strength, Nigh-Invulnerability, and can turn into a massive dragon. The former two cause him to break a lot of objects growing up, including several cars that struck him when he wandered into the streets. The latter is so big as to be near worthless for most activities. It also paints a massive target on his back for people looking to steal powerful Quirks.
  • Boob-Based Gag: Manami is barely over a meter tall but has breasts larger than her head. More than one character is shocked by this, with the occasional joke about how she hasn't broken her spine carrying them around. Manami herself jokes that "her boobs stole all her height".
  • Closet Key: Manami causes Mitsuki to realize she's bisexual, especially with how distracting the older woman is for her when in her pajamas.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: For the battle trials, realistically it was highly unlikely for the ladies to best Izuku. However, what everyone praised them for was how well they continued to hold up against such an overwhelming foe, with All-Might flat out telling them that as Pro-Heroes there would be foes like that, and how they would rise to the occasion was critical.
  • Demoted to Extra: Rather than Izuku's main rival and deuteragonist, Katsuki is merely Mitsuki's crotchety father.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: During the Quirk Assessment, Izuku's shirt tears off his frame, causing all the girls to stare at his muscular frame. Nemuri stops Momo from making him a new shirt on the basis that they need to learn how not to get distracted by things like wardrobe malfunctions.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: Izuku is ridiculously strong, using weights of up to ten metric tons with ease. Besides referenced instances like accidentally uprooting a tree, the wind generated from Izuku casually waving his hand almost knocks Manami over.
  • Failed a Spot Check: During the heroes vs villains exercise, Mineta becomes so distracted fantasizing about the women he and Izuku are facing that he fails to notice Yamato walking up behind him before she knocks him out.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: Izuku dramatically kicks off the head of the Zero Pointer and pulls off an impressive Three-Point Landing... then promptly starts rubbing his legs while complaining about how hard that is on the knees.
  • Gag Penis: Izuku is fairly big for his size. Problem is, Izuku's 18 feet (5.5m) tall. More than one girl jokes that he'd probably kill them if they tried to have sex. If Mineta's shocked exclamation is to be believed, it's bigger than he is.
  • Genius Bruiser: Melissa Shield is just as brilliant as she was in canon while also being the latest holder of One For All.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: This is a given considering Izuku is roughly five and a half meters tall. Even Yamato, who's three and a half meters tall, barely reaches his waist. Though it's especially profound with Izuku's first girlfriend Manami who, at 111cm tall, is almost exactly one fifth his height.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Izuku and Yamato are both incredibly strong and tough, while being far faster than one would expect for someone so large. Though Izuku takes it far further than Yamato does. Notably, Izuku kicks the head off a Zero Pointed, causing it to hit another Zero Pointer in a different testing zone and does so well on the Quirk Assessment test that Nemuri simply writes down "Yes" for each score.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Besides being able to grow more body parts from his arms, Shoji shows the ability to modify them as well, such as growing arms without pain receptors. When Iida's kick mangles them, Shoji's arms contort grotesquely as they're reshaped until they're perfectly healed.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Manami faceplants herself into Mitsuki's cleavage when the latter confesses her feelings for both her and Izuku.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Manami Aiba's screenname is La Brava, her villain alias from canon.
    • Ochako's appearance and Quirk are based of her prototype design, back before she was split into Yu Takeyama and Ochako Uraraka.
    • Ojiro's status as The Generic Guy is played up to the point that nobody remembers him from the entrance exam except Hagakure.
    • Yamato's last name is Kozuki, reflecting her desire to be Oden Kozuki in canon.
  • Never My Fault: According to Inko and Nemuri, multiple drivers have hit Izuku when he thoughtless wandered into the streets. But since Izuku is so tough that said cars are totaled while he's unharmed, the drivers blame him.
  • Older Than They Look: Manami Aiba looks like a 9 year old despite being 22. Though this mostly applies to her height and face, as more than one character has mentioned she's ridiculously stacked.
  • Readings Are Off the Scale: Momo technically gets first place on the Quirk Assessment, but only because Izuku's scores were all so high that Nemuri simply wrote down "Yes" for each one.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: Mitsuki is Katsuki's daughter rather than him being her son.
  • Running Gag: In the second chapter, Yamato keeps trying to introduce herself to Izuku only for someone or something to interrupt her.
  • Shout-Out:
    • One of the people Izuku and Mitsuki notice at the entrance exam spares a striking resemblance to Piccolo.
    • As the story is inspired by The King of Beasts, there's a number of references to it. Such as Tsuyu once again finding Izuku doing the entire entrance exam quirkless "hot".
  • Slave to PR: Aizawa expelling his entire class forced Principal Nezu to perform damage control, re-enrolling the entire class, reassuring parents the expulsion wouldn't be on their children's records, and removing Aizawa as a homeroom teacher.
  • Spiritual Crossover: One of Izuku's classmates is Yamato Kozuki.
  • Stacy's Mom: Kyoka develops a crush on Izuku's mothers.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Yamato is downright gorgeous on top of being even taller than canon (350cm rather than 263cm).
  • Team Mom: Nemuri is noticeably nurturing and caring towards her students, wanting to make sure everyone's doing their best. It only takes a couple days for some members of the class to start calling her "Kayamama".
  • Tranquil Fury: Upon hearing about Hagakure's "costume", Inko continues smiling while radiating an aura of death and causing everything in the room to start vibrating.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Shoto's assumption that he could simply freeze his opponents in the heroes vs villains exercise comes back to bite him when both Shoji and Ochako break out of his ice.
  • Younger Than They Look: Izuku spends some time looking considerably older than he is. As a year old toddler, he looks 6-years-old and when he's seven, Manami Aiba mistakes him for a young teen around her age. Though it's only a couple years later when Izuku grows so large that it's impossible to mistake him as merely being older. By 9-years-old, Izuku's just shy of nine feet tall.
