A My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfic written by xjuggernaughtx.

After a game of horseshoe throwing (pitching), Twilight Sparkle and Applejack encounter a frantic Mrs. Cake who begs them to get Pinkie Pie out of Sugarcube Corner for the day so she doesn't eat everything the Cakes will be baking for a festival. Difficulties arise when Pinkie Pie's Pinkie Sense causes her to develop an obsession with Sugarcube Corner's back door. Things get really crazy when Fluttershy and a wyvern get involved.

The fanfic is notable for being one of a few that have an episode-like plot. The story can be found here.

"A Door Jam" provides examples of:

  • Always Someone Better: When Applejack consoles Twilight on her horseshoe pitching, she tells her that Big Mac always won against her when she was a filly...only for Apple Bloom to point out that Big Mac still wins against her.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Twilight and the others managed to distract the dragon by tossing around one of its treasures.
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Twilight and Applejack fulfill this role when they offer to keep Pinkie Pie distracted, so much so that Applejack says that next time, she'll tell Mrs. Cake to ask Rarity.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: What makes fighting the wyvern difficult is that its tail is poisonous. Fortunately, Applejack was able to avoid it thanks to her 'Dragon Tail' game.
  • Brick Joke: During Twilight and Applejack's horseshoe game, Twilight accidentally hurls a horseshoe over the horizon. Later on, it's revealed it ended up in Fluttershy's door.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Twilight's horseshoe 'throwing' and the 'Dragon Tail' game Applejack plays with Apple Bloom.
  • Comically Missing the Point: After coming out of her self-induced trance over her prophecy and seeing she and the others were in a junkyard, she asks the girls what they did to Sugarcube Corner.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When the wyvern comes through Sugarcube Corner's door that was embedded into the front of its cave, Pinkie Pie points out that she was right that something amazing would come through the door, namely a dragon...then she realizes for the first time that there's a dragon in front of them.
  • Feghoot: Pinkie Pie makes one at the end of the story after their encounter with the dragon, responding to a break by saying "I'd say wyvern'd it!"
  • Group Hug: Twilight, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy share one after they get rid of the dragon.
Fluttershy: "Oh, Twilight! You were so brave!"
Applejack: "You did it! I just knew you could! It's pitches, though. You pitch 'em."
Pinkie Pie: "I still want to know why you girls invited a wyvern over!"
  • Guilt by Association Gag: Even though Fluttershy had nothing to do with Sugarcube Corner's door being ripped out, she still helped put it back in, possibly of her own freewill.
  • Insistent Terminology: Twilight keeps referring to horseshoe pitching as 'throwing'. Applejack keeps correcting.
  • It's Probably Nothing: On the way to Fluttershy's house, Twilight hears what sounds like wings. She assumes it was just the wind. Turns out it was a wyvern.
  • Knockback: When Applejack and Twilight attempt to tackle Pinkie away from the door, they end up bouncing off her poofy mane and slam into the wall.
  • No Time to Explain: Applejack says this to Mrs. Cake in response to why she and Twilight are taking Sugarcube Corner's backdoor
  • Non Sequitur, *Thud*: During the fight with the wyvern, Applejacks slams into a mountain and says in a dazed tone "Granny Smith, I think that apple cider is a mite strong".
  • Original Flavour: The dialogue, pacing, length, and plot feel like an actual episode of the series.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Pinkie Pie's prediction that something amazing will come out of Sugarcube Corner's door comes true mainly because of her obsession with it.
  • This Explains So Much: This is Twilight and Applejack's reaction for obvious reasons when Pinkie reveals she usually bonks her head on her ceiling when she jumps out of bed in the morning.
  • Watch Out for That Tree!: Twilight slams into Fluttershy's wall when she mixes up her door with Sugarcube Corner's door which she had set off to the side.
  • We Need a Distraction: Mrs. Cake asks Twilight and Applejack to keep Pinkie Pie busy while she and Mr. Cake are baking treats. Fortunately, Pinkie Pie is already pretty distracted by the door, to the point she doesn't even realize she's not in Sugarcube Corner anymore until the fight with the wyvern.
