Draco In Leather Pants / League of Legends

  • Diana has become consumed by vengeance and bitter hatred and is on a one-woman quest to destroy the Solari and bring everyone to worship the Moon — by force if necessary. However, given that she only wanted to reveal the truth about the Lunari tribe, which was massacred by the Solari, and given that the same Solari arrested her, branded her a heretic, and nearly had her executed just for finding out that one black spot, it's easy to sympathize with Diana.
    • Riot seemed to agree on this somehow, as in the newer lore, Diana is portrayed in a much more sympathetic light and she's less murderous as well, instead being disgusted at the massacre she committed. In turn, they made the Solari even more fascistic and Leona taking levels of Knight Templar-ism by making her indoctrination clearer, though at the end of Leona's lore, she seems to be looking for something of a reconciliation with Diana.
  • As per Alternative Character Interpretation, Viktor also enjoys a lot of Misaimed Fandom; his fans make light of his possible atrocities and bash Jayce, in spite of Viktor's goal of forcing everyone to become augmented with Hextech machinery.
    • He is made more sympathetic in his new lore, now not trying to force all of humanity to become Augmented, instead only doing it to people who want to be augmented.
  • Many of the Void champions also receive this treatment, most notably Vel'Koz and Kog'Maw. Vel'Koz's cold, studious "examination" of anything he runs across is turned into childlike curiosity and wonder, while Kog'Maw is more likely to be portrayed as a bumbling puppy than the near-mindless eating machine he really is.
  • Dr. Mundo is a psychotic monster who enjoys pain (whether his own or others') and is outright stated to be a serial killer and Self-Made Orphan, but since he has a funny, endearing way of speaking, people forget all about this and portray him as a big lovable oaf. Even Riot doesn't really take him seriously anymore, preferring his Corporate Mundo style whenever he's mentioned.
  • Draven is another Noxian example. Ask a player about Draven, and most will immediately respond, "Not Draven, Draaaaven." Few will mention that he rose to fame in Noxus as an executioner, giving condemned prisoners a chance to flee (and a false sense of hope) before mercilessly cutting them down with various trick throws with his throwing axes.
  • And then there's Katarina. Yes, she's an efficient fighter and easy on the eyes. What people tend to forget is that she's not too picky about whom she kills or why, doing it apparently just for sport. Even if she's A Lighter Shade of Black compared to the likes of Swain, Vladimir, and LeBlanc, she's still loyal to Noxus and thinks that her city-state deserves to rule anyone weak enough to be conquered. But for some fans, she'll always be just a sexy badass — or an extremely Tsundere match for Garen — not an assassin who lives for the kill and takes real joy in shedding blood.
  • Noxus in general has been getting this treatment, especially as Riot has fleshed out its morality compared to the traditional expectation of its "evil empire" image. However, due to a combination of introducing sympathetic qualities (namely its mostly cosmopolitan worldview), Noxian lore skewing to better general reception, and its closest rival of Demacia being seen as increasingly flawed (and to some, outright unsympathetic), the fan consensus of Noxus has arguably swayed to the other end of the pendulum as being the truly heroic faction, usually out of ignorance of its greater flaws (such as it still being run largely by corrupt aristocrats and immoral conspiracies, and its brutal expansionism posing a genuine threat to those who choose not to be assimilated into them).
  • While not as bad as others, Rumble is usually by default portrayed as a xenophobic, Yordle-supremacist jerk, though he has a history of being bullied to excuse that. Fans like to latch onto that excuse better and gave their wishes for him to end up with Tristana either way and make Rumble seem more pitiful and sympathetic, forgetting or toning down his supremacist attitude, because... well, his rival for that is the universally hated Teemo, who would usually more likely be the genuine force of good and a more sociable, pleasant Yordle.
  • Perhaps the most egregious example is Jhin, whom the majority of the fanbase tend to conveniently forget is a deranged, psychopathic mass murderer. He even has some fangirls out-of-universe despite his face never being revealed.
  • While the lore can be a little inconsistent on how much of a mass murderer she actually is, Jinx is another psychopathic killer with no remorse. To fans it makes no difference whether she intentionally kills people or not, as she's an attractive girl who wears extremely skimpy and revealing clothing, and thus a fan favorite.
