Did You Think I Cant Feel / Fan Works

Go To

Times where someone asks "Did You Think I Can't Feel?" in Fan Works.

Crossovers
  • Arc Phantoms: When Yuya has a meltdown after being called a coward's son too many times, he asks the likes of Yaiba and Hokuto if they thought he had a heart of stone and wouldn't be affected by three years of constant bullying.
  • Fantastic Foxes of Zootopia: Central to Ash's breakdown in Different, where his family's tendency to treat and refer to him as "different" while blatantly favoring his cousin Kris is shown to have worn him down to the point where he attempts suicide. He then calls out his parents on how little they know him, as well as their countless thoughtless remarks and slights.
  • Thousand Shinji: SEELE treated the pilots (Shinji, Asuka, Rei, Hikari and Touji) like mere tools with no emotions or feelings. They didn't even bother to hide evidence of their actions. When Shinji found out about them, he decided to show SEELE he definitely had emotions. Berserker wrath being one of them.
Malicious aforethought would have been preferable, but this monstrosity was so much worse. It treated them all as things, simple tools without thoughts or emotions. Did they think we would not care for the cruel indignities placed upon us, even the secret, bitterly ironic ones?

Arrowverse

  • In Where The Eyes Of The Old Gods Can't Hope To Find Us Lauren does this twice.
    • The first is internally after Dyson makes a comment about a place where he had previously had sex with Bo (and where Bo and Lauren just almost had sex). Tamsin also notices, and is indignant on behalf as well.
...but too often Lauren has her nose rubbed in these pesky little passive-aggressive jabs. The quips and jokes that everyone seems to think escape her are just plain cruel at times.
    • She does it verbally later, when she finally gets sick of Kenzi's shit:
Lauren: Don't go shy on me now Kenzi. I have an entire arsenal of quips and comments and passive-aggressive slants hurled at me at one time or another. Maybe the lot of you felt these slights went over my head; I may be a nerd to all of you but I'm not deaf and I'm certainly not stupid.

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command

  • Revenge of the Energy Vampire: XR dislikes others treating all of the times that his body has been damaged or destroyed as 'effectively harmless'. They still hurt, after all.

Death Note

  • Fever Dreams: After L ruins one of his plans — one that Light hoped would ensure they got back together, Light has a Villainous Breakdown that leaves him screaming into his pillow. Rem casually remarks that "I did not realize you were capable of having feelings," much to his outrage.
  • Light to L in Those Who Stand for Nothing Fall for Anything. L is utterly flabbergasted when Light ignores his advances and suggests that L should just go home to his other boyfriend. It is well-deserved; Light confronts L with this after L manipulated, abused, and raped him.
L: Whuuu... What's wrong with you? Light? Light, stop it.
Light: I've been thinking. I realised that you've treated me like I was less than dirt, and that I was letting you.

Futurama

  • Played With in he ain't heavy (he's my meatbag), where while the crew is waiting for news on Fry and Leela's condition in the hospital waiting room, after the opening act of the episode, "The Sting". Bender seems to be acting very callously towards his friends' potentially fatal condition. Amy (and the rest of the crew for that matter) initially assumes he's just being his usual Jerkass self. It's only when Bender breaks down upon seeing Fry awake, so much so that she has to escort him out, that Amy realizes underneath his cold exterior, Bender was worried sick about losing his best friend. Played with in that while she realizes this, Bender himself still refuses to admit it even when he's an emotional wreck.

The Loud House

  • Syngenesophobia:
    • Several characters accuse Lincoln's sisters of not having any remorse for how they subjected their brother to a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown. This becomes a Berserk Button for Lynn, who doesn't appreciate people treating them like they're unrepentant monsters.
    • At one point, Leni angrily tells Mandee and Becky that just because she was involved in that, it doesn't mean she doesn't regret what happened.

Miraculous Ladybug

Monster Prom

  • Monster Prom Senior Year: Oz asks Polly this when she tells him that she loves him, as he doesn't believe that she's telling the truth - he assumes she's only saying that to 'seal the deal' and ensure they have sex. In his defense, he spent some time being dead and regenerating, so he missed out on how much she'd changed while he was gone.

My Hero Academia

  • In Yesterday Upon The Stair, Sir Nighteye mistreats and looks down upon Izuku not just because he believes he's unworthy of One For All, but because he believes that Izuku's ability to see ghosts makes him not care about death. Izuku is deeply unimpressed when he learns this, and angrily calls him out.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • Fighting Is Magic Tournament: Wind Whistler runs into this due to her stoic nature, to the point that Queen Chrysalis treats her like she's emotionless. Patch is a notable exception; her friend Bright Eyes taught her that being intellectual and logically minded doesn't make someone emotionless. This sincerely touches Wind Whistler, and Patch wins their match by making her smile when she compares their circumstances and notes they've both been unfairly judged off their respective appearances.
  • Her Inner Demons: The Shadowbolts ask Sci-Twilight why she, of all people, transformed into a demon, despite not being evil. She points out she was indeed thinking very angry and vindictive thoughts about them due to their bullying, to their shock and regret.
  • The Negotiations-verse: After Pinkie Pie is Driven to Suicide in Regeneration, Twilight gives a half-hearted farewell speech at her funeral. When Rainbow Dash confronts her, accusing her of not caring about their friend's death, Twilight replies with this, admitting that she's been completely worn down by all of the horrible things that have been happening and is trying her best to remain calm.
  • In Pony POV Series, Havoc has a few moments as this. Being the Anthropomorphic Personification of Fear, and one of the four strongest beings in all creation, few ever give how he feels thought other than not wanting to tick him off. Despite this a few times it's made very clear that despite not showing it, he's heartbroken at the loss of two of his sons, and the few ponies who have actually given him condolences genuinely touched him.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • Advice and Trust: After Shinji and Asuka talked Rei into ditching her emotion-numbing medication, she often wonders angrily why the Commander did this to her. When he is lecturing her after the battle against Bardiel, reminding her that she must obey any and all his orders and only his orders to the letter or there will be "consequences" she keeps a cool mask as she resents each word he spouts, thinking she had always been loyal and he had used her like a puppet, and saying herself she will not allow him to hurt her friends.
  • The Child of Love: Gendo never, ever, thought Rei might rebel against him, believing she was under his full control. However, Rei had developed feelings towards Shinji, and due to those feelings, she was becoming very protective of his family. Hence, her stepping aside would simply not happen. He should have foreseen it, but he was genuinely shocked when she struck him.
  • A Crown of Stars: Winthrop and later Jinnai used Asuka as their plaything for years. They did never think their toy could resent or hate having to choose between getting virtually raped and getting shot. When she helped to overthrow Winthrop he was shocked and incredulous because he could not believe she was turning on him and his first thought was she had found a warmer bed. Later Jinnai did not hesitate to inform Shinji and Asuka that they would be useless and replaceable to him very soon, never thinking they might turn on him. And when he heard she was bedding Shinji he was actually affronted and offended because he could not believe she would rather be sleeping with another person.
  • HERZ: Gendo ordered Rei taking him to Lilith to start off the Third Impact, expecting she behave like his obedient, well-indoctrinated puppet. However Rei had fallen in for Shinji, and as Gendo talked, she could feel Shinji’s angst and despair at being unable to save Asuka. So that she rejected Gendo –to his astonishment- and flew to help Shinji defeat the enemy and protect Asuka.

Persona

  • The Alternity Paradox: While at Yakushima, Yukari thoughtlessly declares that Makoto has no idea what it's like to lose a loved one. Makoto absolutely tears into her, demanding to know if she really thinks he's so inured to death that he's not affected by any of his losses. He immediately regrets his outburst upon seeing her facial expression afterwards.

Pokémon

  • Silver Blood: Domino demands to know this during one of their fights with Silver, revealing that, contrary to his assumptions, they're actually in love with him, but also realize he wouldn't be okay with their Arranged Marriage and sincerely want him to be happy.

Ranma ½

RWBY

Transformers

The Twilight Saga

  • In Tough Love, Charlie calls out his daughter on her utter lack of regard for him, her mother, or any of her friends, as she has completely taken their presence and support for granted, never sparing a single thought to any of their feelings or how her behavior might be hurting them.

Warrior Cats

  • In The Tale Of The Two Sisters, Stargalaxy gets extremely upset when Facelicker breaks up with her and tries to manipulate him back into a relationship by accusing him of dismissing her feelings in this fashion.
