Tropes:

• Absurd Phobia: Despite accepting all other genres aside from rock, Queen Barb is revealed to be afraid of J-pop, or more specifically, of the japanese language itself. She claims it to be rational because she doesn't know how to speak it. (She even refused to go to the language class King Trollex was hosting because she didn't knew he was teaching Japanese and mistook his Japanese speaking for gibberish). When she found out that what she mistook for gibberish was actually Japanese, she decided to try it herself, only to be corrected by King Trollex because she used his pronoun ("ore") instead of her own ("watashi"). She was shocked to learn there were different kinds of pronouns, leading to this exchage:
  Barb: There are different kinds of pronouns?! Why didn't anyone tell me?!
  King Trollex: You would've known that if you had joined the lesson!!
  • She eventually faces her fears by learning the lyrics to a J-pop song and singing it with Poppy and King Trollex.

• An Ice Person: One of King Trollex's powers, which he discovers during his battle against Bad Siren, is ice breath.

• Baby Morph Episode: in "Baby Ambassadors", one of R&B's inventions cause the Ambassadors to become babies. (In the process revealing that Synth's fear of the dark was present from when he was a baby).

• Berserk Button: We find out that King Trollex has been taking anger management classes, and the word "glitch" is the trigger word to set off his anger. (But only if is said in a malicious tone)
  • He also doesn't like people who laughs at his Embarrassing Middle Name, as Bad Siren figured out when she mocked King Trollex for having the name "Aloysius" as a middle name.
  • Furthermore, he doesn't take it lightly when others mock him for his fish-like biology, specially when it comes to fish puns (specially if it's Barb who does the puns).

• The Bus Came Back: This series feature the return of Viva and the Members of Brozone.

• Catapult Nightmare: In an episode, Synth wakes up from a dream where he's disowned by his father (reminder that Synth's father is King Trollex). He wakes up screaming "No longer a Trollex!!"
  • In a later episode, he has a nightmare about his fear of the dark, he wakes up screaming so loud, he woke up everyone in Techno Lagoon. He even woke up a Techno Troll who was sleeping in, whom, upon being woken up, groggily asks "is it time for the morning rave already?".
  • Not even the tribe leaders are immune to this: In another episode, King Trollex was having a nightmare of becoming his rock zombie version via a whole new method (since the Ultimate Powerchord was destroyed in the movie (along with the strings)). After the Dream Rock Zombie Trollex did a heavy metal scream, King Trollex woke up in a shock, shouting "No!".

• Embarrassing First Name: This series reveals that King Trollex's first name is the relatively average and not awesome "Wade". King Trollex claims that he was named "Wade" because his parents were running out of male names related to water. Plus, is so average, he went by his last name because his subjects wouldn't take him seriously as a king with a name like "Wade".
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: This furthermore reveals that King Trollex's middle name is the even more average "Aloysius"

• Eskimos Aren't Real: one episode reveals that Queen Barb thought the feeling of ringing ears was a myth.

• Full-Name Ultimatum: Whenever Synth is in trouble, King Trollex calls him by his full name "Synthiago Marinus Tidepool Trollex III". He also does this with Laguna, calling her by her full name "Lagunetta Aqualina Bubblisa Tidepool Trollex I"
  • Later, this gets coupled with Calling the Old Man Out. When Synth, sick of King Trollex's embarrassing him by calling him his "little pearl", calls out on him by turning the tables on his dad by giving him a full name ultimatum. Then, after Synth told King Trollex how embarrassing the nickname really is, King Trollex recalls a time he heard Synth said that the nickname was "embracing", and Synth corrects him. Thus, King Trollex thinking that Synth still liked being called "little pearl" might be a case of Mondegreen Gag.
  Synth: Wade Aloysius Trollex II!, Don't you realize you calling me your "little pearl" stopped being cute a lot of years ago
  King Trollex: But I heard you talk about it, you said it was "embracing"
  Synth: not "embracing", "embarrassing"!

• Hiccup Hijinks: One episode features King Trollex getting the "glitch-ups", the Techno Trolls counterpart of the hiccups. So, Poppy and Synth have to cure King Trollex's glitch-ups before his big rave.

• Hulking Out: Coupled with Rage Breaking Point, Synth's rage form, Savage Synth, is this. However, instead of gaining muscles, he essentially turns more akin to a Siren/sea monster.

• Hurricane of Puns: As seen below, Barb often does a volley of increasingly annoying fish puns to annoy King Trollex during their battles.

• Insistent Terminology: Coupled with Faeries Don't Believe in Humans, Either. When King Trollex gets asked if Techno Trolls were based on fishes, he responds that Techno Trolls are based on "the human myth of merfolk". However, it seems only Techno Trolls believe in humans.
  Holly Darlin': Come on, King Trollex, we all know that humans were just a myth told by our parents via bedtime stories.

• Person as Verb: This series has so far two examples:
  • The first example is to "Synth", meaning "to freak out due to fear of the dark".
  • Another example is to "Minuet", meaning "to avoid sleeping due to having to do something, at the risk of a negative effect".
  • Another example, coupled with Call-Back, is to "do a Bliss Marina", meaning "to be impatient when it comes to the beat drop" (Complete with the flashback being a 2D animated version of the scene of the movie where Bliss Marina says "just do it already!" in response to King Trollex delaying the beat drop)
  • Yet another example is to "Trollex-ing", which means "to jokingly delay the beat drop by saying "wait for it"".
• Pungeon Master: Coupled with Mythology Gag and Call-Back, This series brings back Laguna's love for puns, which was previously shown in the Trolls: TrollsTopia episode "Don't Make Me Laugh".
  • Also coupled with Berserk Button, every episode that includes Barb and how she gets along with King Trollex include her doing fish puns to mess with him .^note  or should we say "to troll him"?
  Barb: Let minnow if these puns annoy you *Riff does a rimshot*

• The Reveal: Synth is King Trollex's father, and Laguna is his sister. To top it off, "Synth" is short for "Synthiago" (a pun on the male name "Santiago")
  • This also reveals that the "Trollex" part of King Trollex's name is not his first name, but rather, his last name. See Embarrassing First Name above to see what's King Trollex's first name

• Sick Episode: Coupled with Call-Back and Mythology Gag, King Trollex is sick with an illness called "Techno Flu" and refused to rest because he has to get back to Techno Reef to protect it and continue the rave. Synth even lampshades this.
  Synth: This situation is kinda like a deja vu.
  Poppy: Yeah, is like when Minuet refused to sleep because she was preparing for the audition.

• Superhero Episode: "Super Trolls", Poppy and her friends (and interestingly, Sky Toronto) become superheroes to protect Trollstopia. Smidge taking the villain role. Soon, the ambassadors (except for Lownote Jones) become superheroes too.

• Took a Level in Badass: After his training in the Techno Dojo, King Trollex became tougher and more ready for battle, specially after receiving a trident.

• Tranquil Fury: Queen Barb presses both of King Trollex's Berserk Buttons (as in, he says the word "glitch" and makes fun of his middle name). Then, King Trollex shoots a laser from his trident at Barb in an eerily calm way.

• Training Montage: In orden to train King Trollex on fighting to test the Techno Dojo as his Mentor/Sensei, Synth puts him through a intense training montage. Said montage including working with Super Strength, training with Water Powers, etc. However, that's just the first part of his training, the second part includes training with a weapon, in the Techno Trolls' case, the designated weapon is a trident.
