The fourth instalment of the Power Rangers Redverse written by Mad Red X 12, using suit designs from Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan. During a mission to the Moon gone wrong, the second Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers are sucked into a time wormhole while fighting Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. Leaving behind their Morphers and losing contact with Zordon and Tommy, they find themselves 11,000 years into the past on the planet Solaris, a planet with six differently-coloured suns. After evading a troop of robotic monsters, they are rescued by the Solaris Defense Organisation, who provide them with new morphers to fight as the Sun Vulcan Rangers to defend Solaris from the evil Volcan Alliance. Assisted by the SDO, the Rangers work not only to defeat the Volcan Alliance, but also to find a way back home.
The Sun Vulcan Rangers:
- Jason Lee Scott/Red Sun Vulcan Ranger: The Leader, previously the second Red Mighty Morphin' Ranger. Retaining his Determinator attitude, he refuses to ever give up on the chance of returning home.
- Zack Taylor/Blue Sun Vulcan Ranger: The Big Guy, previously the second Black Mighty Morphin' Ranger. Forced to grow up and leave most of his joking behind, he begins training hard to improve his ability to benefit the team.
- Billy Cranston/Green Sun Vulcan Ranger: The Smart Guy, previously the second Blue Mighty Morphin' Ranger. Remaining the team's technological expert, he is focused on getting the team back to Earth.
- Trini Kwan/Yellow Sun Vulcan Ranger: The Heart, previously the second Yellow Mighty Morphin' Ranger. With Kimberley becoming a Broken Ace, she is thrust into the peacekeeper role, which she struggles to uphold.
- Kimberley Hart/White Sun Vulcan Ranger: The Lancer, previously the second Pink Mighty Morphin' Ranger. Breaking down by everything going wrong in her life, she has Took a Level in Cynic and clashes with Jason.
- Taiyou/Silver Sun Vulcan Ranger: Sixth Ranger and the only Ranger to have not previously been a Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger. A high-ranking SDO officer with a pregnant wife and extreme paranoia toward everyone, he is prepared for anything. While he helps the other Rangers, he keeps his distance from them and insists on working alone most of the time.
Their Allies are:
- Ilanga: The Big Good and the de facto leader of the SDO.
- Zuva: Ilanga's daughter who is around the Rangers' age and considered their Honorary True Companion.
And they're up against:
- Saturnis: The Big Bad and the leader of the Volcan Alliance, commanding the organization from the claw-like Volcan Headquarters within Solaris's North Pole. Having taken inspiration from the actions of Ivan Ooze and Quarganon, Saturnus has taken up the mantle of the "new greatest scourge in the universe", setting up the Volcan Alliance for the purpose of universal domination.
- Kaoeyne: The Brute.
- Figment: The evil Sixth Ranger, Kaoeyne's old flame who arrives mid-way through the series when he gets a distress call from her. He doesn't do much to hide the fact that he's only on Solaris for his own ends and would rather rule the planet himself, though Saturnis views him as necessary on account of how strong he is.
- The Women of Limbo: Four human-like androids used for infiltration and spying. They can be identified by their clothing and weapon — Number 01 wears red and prefers a scythe, Number 02 wears black and uses a small arsenal of Stock Ninja Weaponry, Number 03 wears yellow and attacks with wrist-mounted yo-yo blades, and Number 04 wears white and wields a double-bladed sword.
- Mechaorns: The Thematic Rogues Gallery and Monsters of the Week.
- Machinemen: The Volcan Alliance's Mecha-Mooks.
Recurring Power Rangers Redverse Tropes:
- All Your Colors Combined
- All Your Powers Combined
- Animal Motifs: Chronically the first Ranger team to have Animal Motifs.
- Noble Bird of Prey: Eagle (Jason) and Falcon (Trini)
- Threatening Shark: Shark (Zack)
- Panthera Awesome: Panther (Billy)
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: Ladybug (Kimberly)
- Rhino Rampage: Rhino (Taiyou)
- Big Bad: Saturnus. Unlike most Redverse main villains, he's a Non-Action Big Bad who asserts he's a tactician and scientist, not a warrior, and admits he wouldn't stand a chance against the Rangers themselves on the field.
- Chest Insignia: The sun-shaped badges on the Sun Vulcan suits. The team also make use of the belt buckle variant, featuring images of their respective animals on their belts.
- Orcus on His Throne: Averted with Saturnus, despite him being a Non-Action Big Bad. While he never actually engages in battle until the finale, in his own Zord, he does regularly go out and engage in non-combat missions, such as collecting a Artifact of Doom or scouting locations to build new Volcan Alliance fortresses on. Heck, he even goes to the Home Base and spies on the Rangers there, hiding in the bushes in a Paper-Thin Disguise.
Tropes specific to Sun Vulcan:
- Ascended Meme: The Memetic Badass status of Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan's Vulcan Stick, with the characters in-universe commenting on how for a simple stick it's surprisingly useful.Trini: Good old Vulcan Stick! Nothing beats it!
- Canon Foreigner: Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan was notorious for only featuring three Rangers and having no female Rangers, while Power Rangers Sun Vulcan features five Rangers and Two Girls to a Team. Heck, to add onto this, the Yellow and White Vulcan Ranger's suits are entirely new whereas VulPanther was recoloured green to become Billy's new Green Vulcan Ranger.
- Corrupted Character Copy:
- The Women of Limbo are similar to Team RWBY, possessing similar colour schemes and weaponry, but are clearly villainous and clearly love being so.
- Evil Sixth Ranger Figment is essentially an evil version of Duke Nukem and his Expy Serious Sam. Much like both, he's a sunglasses-clad, hedonistic, absurdly and inexplicably powerful One-Man Army with a penchant for (alien) pop-culture references, a ego that could block out all of Solaris's suns, and a small armoury's worth of weapons on hand (to the extent where he even uses blatant lookalikes of Duke's iconic Devastator and gold-plated handgun and Sam's Cannon and XL-808 Plasma Gun). However, while Duke and Sam are both heroic "ultimate alien butt-kickers" (as Duke calls himself in Duke Nukem), are loyal to their respective organisations and never back down in the face of danger, Figment is a villainous Evil Poacher of humans who leave Earth (although he makes it clear he won't attack humanity so long as they remain on Earth), has no loyalty to the Volcan Alliance, and immediately turns tail and runs as soon as a fight stops going his way.
Figment: (upon seeing Jason's new Battilizer) Hey, I just remembered. I don't work for these guys. (proceeds to turn on his jetpack and flies away) - Cue the Sun: The end of the first battle features this.
- Rock Beats Laser: The Rangers at one point defeat a Volcan tank by pulling out shovels and digging a hole. The tank's pilots were so busy laughing their asses off when they saw the Rangers, they didn't notice they were going right in a pit they had just used their super speed to make.
- Running Gag:
- "Which sun is that one again?"
- Scarf of Asskicking: Part of the Ranger outfits. Kim also has a scarf as part of her civilian outfit.
- Shout-Out:
- When posing, the Rangers mimic using a bow, which is an attribute of Apollo, the Greek god of the Sun.
- The line "I need to take them out fast, and bullets are too slow!" is a gramatically correct version of "I have to kill fast and bullets too slow"
- Time Travel: How the Rangers arrived in the past, being pulled into a rift that sends them 11,000 years in the past.
- Trapped in Another World
- Throwing Your Sword Always Works: The Rangers often use their Vulcan Sticks as throwing weapons.
- War Is Hell: The series pulls no punches in showing how horrific and brutal war can be right from the start, with the Rangers barely surviving the siege on the town they pulled themselves to after being transported to Solaris - and according to Commander Ilanga, they were the ONLY survivors. Throughout the course of the game, numerous named, even major, characters are killed, sometimes in very brutal ways.
