Pokemon League Participants

     In General
As the Pokemon League hasn't actually arrived to the region, the League has sent 18 possible Gym Leaders to "test" how strong they are and how popular they become amongst the locals.
  • Klingon Promotion: It's stated this is how they decide their rankings amongst each other. This doesn't actually mean they're guaranteed for a spot as a Pokemon Gym Leader or Elite Four in that region, just that they're stronger as trainers.

     Researcher Vespa (Bug)
A local scientist who studies insects.

     Archaeologist Diana (Rock)
A hunter of fossils and items from the past.

     Veteran Janice (Ice)
A former soldier who rescues lost people in the everglades.
  • Determinator: If someone is lost, Janice will 'never' give up on finding them, no matter how long it's been.
  • The Fettered: Has vowed to never leave someone behind. Even if that person is a total stranger who idiotically went off the path and got lost, she won't hesitate to leap in and save them.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Is rather abrasive in personality and won't hesitate to criticize and belittle those she sees as stupid. However, she still holds herself to the ideal of saving everyone, and personally makes sure they make it back alive.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With Ranger Hyatt. Janice is in her forties, while Hyatt is in her early twenties. They both get along rather well, and seem to share the common belief that people and Pokemon are worthy of protection and helping.
  • Odd Friendship: She and Ranger Hyatt (a Dragon specialist) are good friends. Even funnier considering that Hyatt has very few counters for Janice's Pokemon in her team, yet Janice is far below her in rank.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Subverted. Janice mentions that a lot of others became this trope, but she refuses to, so long as there are people who need her help.
  • War Is Hell: Though she rarely brings it up, the war she was in was apparently terrible enough to make her resign from it entirely. She also dislikes using Pokemon as weapons, and condemns Team Rift for doing so.
  • Zen Survivor: The war she was caused her to go into a massive depression and she was only saved by Ranger Hyatt, who talked her into becoming a member of the Pokemon League so she can inspire and help people.

     Doctor Alon (Grass)
A doctor who heals people and finds cures for diseases.

     Gambler Carlos (Psychic)
A casino owner and psychic who cheats with his clairvoyance.
  • Not Cheating Unless You Get Caught: Subverted. Almost everyone knows he has visions of the future, though he doesn't have them at will, so most people are still willing to gamble against him. He doesn't always win, either.

     Rebel Ryett (Poison)
A punk who is actively fighting against Team Rift.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Dresses like a thug, has a 'gang', and is known to be overly abrasive to strangers. However, he has contempt towards Team Rift for their destructive habits, and he's still a Pokemon League Participant, which means he willingly signed up for it.
  • Neighbourhood-Friendly Gangsters: His gang was formed simply to keep Team Rift out of his town.

     Undertaker Maive (Ghost)
A coroner and manager of the largest graveyard in the region.

     Supervisor Terry (Ground)
An overseer of a local mine.

     Principle Unity (Normal)
A head of a Pokemon academy in the region.

     Brawler Kara (Fighting)
A leader of a dojo/gym.

     Chef Gordon (Fire)
A celebrity cook who owns a restaurant.

     Gamer Wira (Electric)
A professional gamer.

     Officer Zade (Dark)
A police chief of the entire region.
  • Brutal Honesty: He's relatively quiet, but if asked, he will give his full opinion, regardless of how the other reacts to it.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Uses Dark-type Pokemon, stereotypically the default "evil" type used by most of the evil teams (like Team Rocket), but is head of the entire police corps.
  • Father to His Men: The safety of his officers is among his top priorities.
  • Friend to All Children: Absolutely loves kids, and mentions that while being a Pokemon League Participant, he just adores inspiring kids through battling them.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He is a police officer, so he's polite, but he's brutally honest and won't allow injustice to stand as long as he's around.
  • It's Personal: The reason he has utter contempt for Team Rift? They sent one of his officers to the hospital.
  • Sergeant Rock: A cop version of this. He's uncompromising in his beliefs of justice, but he'll gladly go himself if he thinks his officers might get into trouble.
  • Terror Hero: Basically, he makes himself look intimidating to frighten criminals and make it easier to beat them.

     Pilot Jetty (Flying)
A pilot who also oversees a local airport.

     Captain Bryn (Water)
A ship captain that journeys across the large lagoon in the region.

     Ranger Hyatt (Dragon)
A protector of Pokemon.

     Idol Pix (Fairy)
A superstar idol and pop singer.

     Sage Ferron (Steel)
A monk who leads a monastery.
