Mystery Squid is a roleplay with a very misleading name. It is the timey-wimey adventures of a group of college kids who run a fake ghost hunting show on YouTube and accidentally make contact with a group of con artist occultists from The Roaring '20s. Both parties think they have discovered ghosts. Hilarity ensues.
Mystery Squid provides examples of:
- Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: "Someday, after the end, all that's left will be cockroaches and porn." "And then cockroach porn."
- Confession Cam: Used frequently on the web show, mostly to humanize the kids to the audience.
- Establishing Character Moment: Carson announcing an idea for the show to the group.
- Lily reacting strongly, smirking at Carson's expression, and then immediately getting to work.
- Emile with 20 tabs open for research.
- Tricia on her phone, tweeting.
- Glen on his computer, editing and reading comments.
- Neil quietly planning things out in his notebook.
- Noodle Incident: "Carson only goes for the most muscle bound guys if I remember correctly, which I'm pretty sure I do because I was the designated driver that night."
- Unabashed B-Movie Fan: Glen requests Tricia and Emile rent "something suitably questionable" like a bad zombie movie. They come back with Zombie Strippers!.
