Deco ZONE: The Swingin' New Adventures of November York is a (planned) webcomic by Mochagatari (aka A Patchwork Scholar) and is fifth in the Gatari & Friends lineup of original series. Originally called The Adventures of Zamboni and Todd, the plot was rehauled and renamed, and officially dubbed an upcoming revival of a past comic project known as November York: Patchwork Detective.
The series was announced in May 2017 as a "decopunk Noir mystery serial" and is somewhat based on music by electroswing artist Caravan Palace.
Tropes to be included are:
- Amateur Sleuth: November, who is a teenage detective solving random cases across the city.
- Art Deco: It's in the name.
- Author Avatar: November.
- Badass Longcoat: Several characters sport them, though Bronze and Miles stand out as examples.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: According to Bronx, Zamboni and Florence have been "seconds away from Frenching" for years.
- Beta Couple: Sue and Clark.
- Black Comedy
- Broomstick Quarterstaff: Silva pulls one out to duel with the gang members the group encounter.
- Cool Car: Sue's limo.
- Diesel Punk: The series blends the Roaring Twenties with high futurism and a dash of the 40s Noir and Raygun Gothic.
- Ethical Slut: Sally, who is rather...vocal about her escapades with men and women since she and Sue quit show business.
- Film Noir
- The Flapper: Sour Sally.
- Friend to All Living Things: Flora.
- Funny Animal: Plenty of them populate Grayscale Square.
- Inkblot Cartoon Style: The Comics emulate the style of black-and-white rubberhose cartoons.
- Neighbourhood-Friendly Gangsters: The Dealers.
- Ninja Maid: Silva.
- The Roaring '20s
- Rubberhose Limbs: The Comics have noodle-like arms and legs, barring some of the women.
- Rule of Cool
- Straight Man and Wise Guy: Miles and Domino, as well as Todd and Zamboni.
- Two Guys and a Girl: Miles, Domino, and November.
- Unkempt Beauty: Florence is described as one.
