Two hours from anywhere

"Welcome to the backwoods, kids. As far as divisions go, we're in that awkward space between civilization and wilderness. Make no mistake though, it's busy down here what with us living in the middle of the second biggest crossroads on American soil."
Augustus Guster, Ace of Spades

Changeling Boar Man: I'm not a donkey...
Jordan: DID I SAY YOU COULD TALK BACK TO ME YOU FUCKING DONKEY?!

Bad Cops in the Hedge

The Cardians are members of a global criminal organization named so after their ranking system, which divides members into suits and numbers. They fight against supernatural creatures and monsters in order to protect humanity, though their methods may not always be 'lawful'.

Its base is situated in an old plantation roughly two hours drive out from its namesake Atlanta.

The tutorials started in early April 2015, and is currently ongoing.

     General

Player Characters

     Alex Azadi

♣ | 23 | American | Human

     Honda Monki

♣ | 30s | American | Human/Sin-Eater

     Fiona Murdock

"'Fuck it."

♣ | 26 | British | Human
Fiona is determined and driven. She's kinda becoming the unofficial leader

  • Hotblooded: She's driven to try and succeed in anything she does. Fighting? Will learn new styles. Driving? Hey she can now drive that tank they stole! Research? She hates it, she's dumb but man if she doesn't do 10 hours a week to try and figure out something.
  • Bouncer: She used to work in various nightclubs around the UK and one in Atlanta.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Centre: Looks are deceiving.
  • Delinquent Hair: Known for her blonde mohawk.
  • Simpleton Voice: “Yer wot mate?” Thuggish look, thuggish accent.
  • Sir Swears Alot: She rarely filters herself, but has been swearing less until angry or scared.
  • Spirited Competitor: Loves to spar and will trash talk but luckily is a graceful loser.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Her prefered way of fighting but don’t think she’ll play fair.
  • Plucky Girl: No matter what, she still seems to shake herself and keep a positive attitude and kick ass.

     Russell Feldman

"'Gravedigger,' huh? Sounds strangely fitting."

♦ | 23 | Canadian | Human

Perhaps the most enigmatic of the bunch, Russell is a Yukon boy turned American shortly after a nondescript incident, and the one whose past is the least divulged in, an intentional point on his part due to the apparent severity of his past actions. His psychological profile is similarly difficult to pin down, being particularly unhinged to the point where even he doesn't know what's going on; bloodthirsty one moment and a moralistic panicky mess the next. Screws are verifiably loose and more keep joining them as time goes on, though his recent endeavors may make some claim he's already cracked.

     Jordan Rensey

Too hardcore for these donkeys!!!

"YOU FUCKING DONKEY!"

♦ | 28 | American | Human

Jordan Rensey, (born November 8th) is a notorious master chef with a fiery reputation for being the up and coming Enfant Terrible of the culinary world. His exploits have carried him around the world from the esteemed Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, to the mountains in Tibet, and even to the furthest reaches of remote Siberia. However, after a rather blissful few years in the harsh winters of Mother Russia, Jordan was unceremoniously deported back to Atlanta, where he worked at a restaurant as Sous Chef. After a fatal run-in with a supernatural lunatic cannibal (and applying liberal doses of throat punches to said lunatic cannibal), Jordan found himself in a new occupation and a new life as a Cardian. Life is going to be a lot more interesting...

  • Angst? What Angst?: What would often have made other player characters cry and become overwhelmed with sadness, Jordan would brush off.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Subverted. Jordan is well aware of his skill in the martial arts, but still knows that he's not the best. He considers himself a chef before all else.
  • Berserk Button: Bad food and incompetence are two of them for Jordan.
  • Brutal Honesty: Jordan is not one to ever mince words, even with people who outrank him.
  • Catchphrase: Calling people a "fucking donkey" is most certainly one.
  • Chef of Iron: Jordan Rensey is a very proficient practicioner of Kung Fu, and continues his training every day.
  • Chez Restaurant: His former workplace was called "Chez la Cuisine."
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Whenever Jordan is dealing with things that press his Berserk Button. Otherwise, he's surprisingly mild mannered.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Zig-Zagged. When it's a friendly sparring match, Jordan would rather it be a clean fight (He was exasperated with Fiona's attempted low blows, Russel Flynn using a sledgehammer, and Augustus's willingness to kick people in the groin). However, played straight when it is an actual mission. When taking on cultists, Jordan suggested they simply burn the place down rather than go in and fight them all.
  • Cultured Badass: Can cook you a 12 course gourmet meal and then swiftly punch you in the throat in the same day without missing a beat.
  • Death Glare: After Milo disrespectfully blew smoke into Jordan's face, Jordan returned one of these. Milo had a heart attack due to its severity.
  • Determinator
  • Diner Brawl: Almost started one with Alex after screaming about how awful the buttercream pie was at a café that claimed to be "Home of the Buttercream Pie." That was his berserk button pressed.
  • Expy: Of Gordon Ramsay, except he knows Kung Fu.
  • Food Porn: His cooking is right in this territory.
  • Friend to All Children: The only person he hasn't yelled at or otherwise been unpleasant to was DJ, a young girl who followed him around and tried to imitate his angry face. He doesn't seem to mind.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Jordan does have a sense of ethics and morals, but is perfectly willing to get his hands dirty if need be.
    • When Ryan was being a punk, he was the only one who thought it'd be a good idea to just knock him out and drag his ass out of the Hedge.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He is based off Gordon Ramsay after all.
  • I Know Karate: Or Kung Fu in his case.
  • Impossibly Delicious Food: Burgers made many customers cry, and his Eggs in a Basket made the Ace of Spades shed a tear.
  • Jerkass: Has pissed off nearly every other person in the Atlanta Division at least once.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: How many people tend to see him.
  • Pride: His in-game vice.
  • Real Men Cook
  • Rebellious Spirit: Jordan doesn't get along well with a lot of the people who outrank him.
  • Sensing You Are Outmatched: Despite Jordan's proficiency in fighting, this has happened a few times.
    • During his tutorial, Jordan realized the zombie/vampire was NOT an ordinary human opponent and tried to run towards a place where people were most likely to be just in case it was too much for him.
    • In a fight with Augustus, the Ace of Spades, Jordan was aware of the difference in experience and is still a bit bitter about that.
    • When fighting a werewolf with magic powers that blinded him, Jordan was acutely aware of his own mortality given how near-death he was in that fight, but he still held the line regardless. (See Determinator entry above).
  • Self-Made Man: Worked his way to the top of the culinary world with no silver spoon in sight.
  • Supreme Chef: Has made numerous people cry due to how good his cooking was. Even Augustus shed a tear.
  • The Unfettered: Jordan is perfectly willing to piss of the entire world if it means doing what needs to be done.

     Klaus Harper

KLAS INTENSIFIES
"Morals? I just do what I feel is right."

♥ | 25 | ??? | Human? Stigmatic

Disregarding everything, including the turmoil and bloodshed around him, Klaus would simply much rather take a nap or watch the clouds than actually do any work. He's a very relaxed individual, who lives life as it presents itself to him, always trying to keep a smile on his face and have a good time. He spent most of his life traveling the southern parts of the United States finding work, and keeping himself satisfied with seeing and trying new things, and wasn't all too happy to be caged up in an actual job. He prefers not to fight, but certainly has the capability to do so due to having demonic powers. He spends most of his time laying around and trying to keep things civil, as well as trying to liven things up with his usual charades and shenanigans.

  • Equippable Ally: Malik, the demon axe that Klaus has essentially claimed for himself, is normally some manner of stoat.
  • Playing with Fire: Eventually learns how to wield fire, usually pretty casually
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Learns eventually he's the child of demon royalty. He knew he probably wasn't human but this still comes as a surprise to him.
  • Ethical Slut: There are no boundaries with Klaus. But he respects their boundaries.
  • The Casanova: When not chained to the Cardians, he was something along these lines. Now he's more along the lines of The Charmer.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: No one else can pick Malik up, not even much beefier individuals Like Fiona and Ryan.
  • The Trickster: It's all like a game to him. May also be comparable to Lovable Rogue.
  • The Tease: Isn't afraid to make people squirm uncomfortably. For the fun of it, of course (especially with Jo Hawkins)!
  • Fanservice: Yeah. He knows it. His summer wardrobe is basically just Walking Shirtless Scene.
  • Noodle Incident: Klaus doesn't talk about his past and childhood. He usually answers questions by brushing them off. or gets really uncomfortable.

     Emmett Sokolowski

"Duuuuuuude"

♥ | 37 | American | Human/Changeling

Stoner/beach bum from Huntington Beach California, after getting fired along with his buddy Mickey they road tripped across America until a day at the beach resulted in Mickey, and almost Emmett too, getting taken by the Gentry. A coward and by no means a fighter he tries to put his abilities to talk out, and failing that, running the hell away. Ironically the only person with any knowledge of the occult, even if it is all from pop culture.

[[folder: Elaine Keegan]]

     Lyndis Valestrom

"THAT WHORE STOLE MY WALLET!" — A gang leader, shortly after being pickpocketed by Lyn.

♠ | 19 | American | Human/Changeling

  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Even in guys' clothes and without makeup, he's surprisingly effeminate.
  • Green Thumb
  • Five-Finger Discount / Sticky Fingers: His main means of acquiring money, whether it be pickpocketing anybody in a nice suit or stealing expensive watches off of displays.
  • Gender-Blender Name: His name is "Lyndis", and more often than not he introduces himself as "Lyn". Along with his androgyny, confusion tends to ensue.
  • Hassle-Free Hotwire: He hotwires a car within seconds, even with no prior experience!
  • Little Bit Beastly
  • Master of Unlocking: His attempt at unlocking the Orphanage's front doors with a multitool is described as "barely touching the lock".
  • Power Incontinence: His changeling powers are so subtle that he doesn't even realize he has them at first.
  • Power-Up Letdown: He worried that he didn't even acquire any powers at all shortly after he turned Changeling. Subverted, however; they're powerful, but much more subtle than the powers of other supernaturals in the group.
  • Saving the Orphanage: The primary reason for his thievery; he wants to help fund a local orphanage.
  • So Long, Suckers!: "You can say goodbye!", delivered not seconds before leaping over a back alley wall.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: He's effeminate as it is, so he rolls with girly clothes as often as men's clothing.
  • Combat Parkour:

     Jo Hawkins
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jo.jpg
What a nerd!
"You're never safe. Just safer."

♠ | 23 | American | Human

If there are two things that must be known, it's that Jo is extremely smart, and extremely paranoid. Jo worked as a federal contractor for the NSA as a penetration tester. On the side though, Jo was able to manage a substantial deep web black market enterprise. Much of their success is due to their vigilance and paranoia which allowed Jo to avoid being arrested and found out, but things changed when some Cheiron shenanigans started to pop up...

  • Ambiguous Gender: Jo is androgynous, and no one knows whether they're a boy or a girl. Jo identifies as either depending on their mood.
  • Because I'm Good At It: Jo managed an illegal deep web enterprise because they were damn good at hacking and navigating network infrastructures.
  • Beneath the Mask: Jo comes across as aloof, brilliant, and cynically paranoid but...
  • BFG: Jo's second Aetheric Battery gun, the Runesocesius. It's a modified M1 Garand of Size 4 that has been packed with an aether battery, massive shock absorbers, a bipod, telescopic sights, and supernatural fire augmentation. This weapon is meant to snipe down enemies from nearly half a mile away with only a minimal range penalty.
  • Broken Ace: Among Jo's many descriptions, they are a genius who has graduated with honors in one of the most prestigious certifications available in the US, an accomplished marksman (better than some former military men), a scientist who has revolutionized magitech and weaponized it into practical form in only months, knowledgeable occultist, capable medic, one of the greatest hackers in existence, and a ruthless business negotiator. Yet Jo still struggles with paranoia, anxiety, mental instability, and simply isn't capable of understanding their friends.
  • Characterization Marches On: Jo started the 2nd season as a completely paranoid shut-in nerd who couldn't trust anyone and felt any slight strange random movement had a malicious intent. These days, Jo's paranoia is considerably more downplayed (due to not wanting to slow sessions down) and focuses more on their struggles between doing what is morally right and what is pragmatic.
  • Child Prodigy: Jo is exceptionally young considering their accomplishments. Jo was always good with computers.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Oh to count the ways...
    • Carries at least 3 cans of pepper spray on them at all times concealed in different locations on their body.
    • Carries one gun on them, though this is fairly standard for World of Darkness.
    • Is in posession of a Lucid Dreaming Reality Check coin to ensure that they can tell if they are dreaming or not... you know... just in case.
    • The above reality check coin is actually a red-herring. The real reality checking tool they use is a tattoo on their left wrist under their watch that reads "1023".
    • They have their own language that they habitually think in to ensure that their thoughts are not understood, you know, just in case...
    • They have their own military-grade encryption software on all their devices, synced to multiple devices to provide a huge electronic security system. You know, just in case...
    • Soon after mastering and perfecting the use of Aether as an energy source, they had rewired all the circuitry of their primary computer parts using Aether to make their technologies immune to EMPs and other forms of interference. This became useful when the Cardians was going to be pinned as a terrorist organization and a supernatural being was just interfering with Jo's technology. Because of this prep, the division isn't being hunted down by every level of law enforcement.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Isn't afraid to pepper spray people, shoot an enemy immediately, or blowing up warehouses. Jo fights dirty.
  • Glass Cannon: Physically, they have the lowest Stamina and Health, but can deal out damage comparable to some Clubs. Emotionally, they can snark and dish out insults and condescension with the best of them, but doesn't handle being put on the spot easily.
  • Good with Numbers: Counted cards in a poker match.
  • Hates Being Touched
  • Hand Cannon: Atropos is a pistol rewired to use Aetheric energy blasts instead of conventional bullets, and has the same damage potential of a .500 Smith and Wesson, currently the strongest handgun in the world.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: How Jo justified their actions when Klaus reproached them for blowing up Cheiron armories without considering possible casualties.
  • Insufferable Genius: Jo is smart and they know it.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Jo was always much smarter than people their age, which made it difficult for them to talk with other people who weren't experts in the technological field.
  • Lack of Empathy: Jo struggles with understanding how other people are feeling given their flaws of being Behavior Blind and a very low empathy roll.
  • Meganekko: Can evoke this aesthetic when they're wearing glasses and working.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: All too quick to suggest various means of grievous bodily harm as a solution to issues when other people are involved.
  • Nerd Glasses: When working, Jo sports a set of these.
  • No Social Skills
  • Properly Paranoid: Too paranoid, and recent events with Cheiron indicate that Jo wasn't paranoid enough.
  • Robot Buddy: Has one in Cybelle, but it's been under wraps for now.
  • The Cracker: Jo's abilities in cracking encryptions is uncanny.
  • The Cynic: Thinks everyone is only out for themselves. One of the reasons Jo is so paranoid.
  • The Gadfly
  • The Paranoiac: Always paranoid, always on the look-out for the next horrifying thing that'll eat their brains.
  • The Spock: Being a rationalist, it makes sense compared to the others.
  • The Short Guy with Glasses: Being the shortest player character at 5'2" and sporting glasses, this fits.
  • The Smart Guy: Comes with being the Spade with the highest Intelligence score.
  • The Tease: On the rare occasion. Most notable with Klaus and vaguely with Milo.
  • Too Clever by Half: Jo is smart. Jo is very VERY smart. But being smart doesn't solve all their problems...
