     Brawly-Boys Summery

A rough, cocky mafia goon (Gorvie Mazza) in the city of Gules, is enjoying a night on the town with his boss (Boss Vincent Roccetto) and his young protege (Joyce Kappohn) when rival gangsters of their organization stage a coup. In the conflict, Gorvie's boss is killed leaving Gorvie stunned by this sudden loss of one of the few people he looked up t and considered family. About to deliver swift, bloody revenge on the killer (Ruger Katz), the club hosting the standoff is suddenly decimated by the crash of an Airship belonging to members of the advanced civilization (Technians, also called 'cloudies') that live on sky-islands above them, rarely interacting with humans (groundies). Ruger escapes while Gorvie witnesses to a fight between members of rival houses of Technians, all over a mysterious case. As Gorvie is about to sneak off, the fighting Technians inexplicably change their targets as a result of obtaining alarms from their sensing equipment, aiming at the club bartender. The man suddenly morphs into a Humanoid Abomination, killing both Technians and running away, leaving the case to be claimed by Gorvie, who thinks he has just scored some tech that he can sell on the blackmarket on his way out of town.

Collecting his protoge, both men realize they are targets of the new regime, and they have no choice but to flee the city. Ruger catches up with them and confesses that his motives are personal: he holds a grudge against Grovie for kidnapping and selling off his sisters to the slave trade long ago. In a shoot-out in the streets, Ruger tries to kill Gorvie but in the effort he instead kills Joyce. Gorvie gets double the revenge, ending Ruger's life and leaving him dead in the street. Having no other choice, Gorvie takes the case he stole and tries to leave the city via smugglers who he knows are unaffiliated with the mob. Getting in the truck that will take him to another city in the north (Sabir City), he realizes that also being smuggled out with him is the frightening bartender (Burvalt Isenbert). Burvalt is stoic but apparently non-hostile despite the fact that Gorvie knows he isn't human, and the two pretend each other doesn't exist throughout the trip.

Half way to their destination, they are attacked by Technians. Burvalt engages them, eventually consuming them, but not before their transportation is rendered inoperable, leaving them stranded. In an effort to understand why they were attacked and prevent it from happening again, Burvalt suggests the case Gorvie stole is the target and they should open it to see what is inside. Opening the case, they find...a Technian girl in stasis (Iriyana of House Aurelia), who wakes up and immediately demands they take her to the Technian capital where she can fulfill her function as the next living battery to power their Magitek, and in doing so grant her house (House Aurelia) control of the government until she's replaced. It turns out that the attacking Technians are her House, trying to get her there in time, and a rival house (House Argenten), trying to stop her so their living battery can power it instead, therefore gaining the right to control their government.

Neither want anything to do with the situation, and Burvalt considers eating her, but the two decide their stranded status is the most pressing situation and they need her abilities. Using her technopathic powers, Iriyana is able to fix the damage done to their transportation and, promising compensation, she ropes Gorvie into helping her for the time being. The two take Iriyana with them to Sabir city, a northern settlement with a wintery climate. Burvalt initially leaves Gorvie and Iriyana to travel to the cloudie capital alone, but it soon becomes apparent that he is being sought by another Technian House (House Obsidon) as well due to being sighted back in Gules. Burvalt is found and confronted by the Technian Mad Scientist (Kuroz of House Obsidon) who created him and others like him in the past, and who now hunts the escaped subjects, very few of which remain, using a weapon crafted specifically to bypass Burvalt's immunity to Technian powers. With the aid of Iriyana, who drags Gorvie back to assist Burvalt upon realizing her potential bodyguard is being attacked by an ally of the house that is attacking her, they help Burvalt to escape and all find transport on an illegally run airship transport, headed towards Orium, the closest ground city to the Technian's floating capital.
