General
- Some My Hero Academia fanfics give Izuku a cuteness Quirk. In Midoriya Izuku. Quirk: Cuteness, his level of cute is so powerful that it makes people blush and stutter just by looking at him. People frequently offer him things for free, saying that he deserves them for making the world a brighter place. Whenever he tries to enter a martial arts class, the sensei and students tell him that such a 'fragile, precious boy' like him shouldn't be involved in any kind of violence. He is so unbelievably cute that All Might immediately wants to adopt him about two seconds after saving him from the sludge villain.
Specific Examples
Crossover- Avatar of Victory (Avatar: The Last Airbender & Mass Effect): Shepard tries very hard to keep her professionalism whenever she's around an Elcor. She even had a plushie Elcor when she was a kid.
- BlazBlue Alternative: Remnant: Zwei's adorableness causes Weiss and Pyrrha to go completely gaga over him. This gets taken up even further with Noel, who snatches him from Yang and proceeds to cuddle him like there's no tomorrow.
- Child of the Storm:
- Harry elicits this a fair bit in the first book, being small for his age and adorable — even Natasha finds him cute. It clearly runs in the family, as his third cousin, Diana, at the age of 12, elicits this from the Winter Soldier himself.
- Ada Maria Potts-Stark (per Word of God, the acronym was intentional) takes up the baton as newborn in Ghosts, to the point where Pepper weaponises it to get Harry (who happens to be one of Ada's godparents) out of a slump by plonking her in his arms.
- In the third book, a six year old Francis Storm-Richards has a similar effect, being absolutely fecking adorable and turning Harry to goo.
- Code Geass: Paladins of Voltron (Code Geass & Voltron: Legendary Defender): Shirley goes absolutely gaga over the alien pill bugs she and Rai find in Across the Universe, complete with beating heart eyes!
- Crazy Irken and ? (Invader Zim-based crossover fic anthology by D_rissing and nightmaster000. note Unable to link due to violating Content Policy, but it can be found on their Archive of Our Own pages.):
- In the Teen Titans (2003) chapter, GIR wanders off while Zim is busy with the captured Starfire and runs into the HIVE trio. Jinx promptly falls head over heels for the cuteness of his dog disguise and decides to take him as a pet. By the epilogue, this has somehow led to her becoming a voluntary member of GIR's new harem.
- Similarly, in the The Proud Family chapter, GIR bumps into Zoey after wandering away from Zim at Comic Con, and she finds him incredibly cute because of his dog costume. By the time she finds out that he's a robot, she's had sex with him and doesn't seem to mind the reveal.
- Fates Collide (Fate Series & RWBY): Ruby Rose is very happy to meet Astolfo's Hippogriff and Medusa's Pegasus.
- I'm Nobody: On seperate occasions, Xion and Namine squee at the sight of Ridiculously Cute Critter Stitch and Big Friendly Dog Pluto, and instantly rush to pet them.
- Infinity Train: Blossomverse:
- Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail, Chloe sees the Sorbet Shark Puppies in the Plush Penguin Car and finds them adorable.
- In the sequel, Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria, Hazel finds Goh's Sobble to be this and hugs them...while accidentally causing them to unlease a cry that makes her and everyone else around her.
- In Infinity Train: Seeker of Crocus, Yuri Ichiro is ecsatic about being in the Porings Car and gleefully tackles them in hugs. His loves of Porings and anything similar is so strong that he actually cuddles a copy of Rimuru Tempest's slime form.
- Kyon: Big Damn Hero (Haruhi Suzumiya & TV Tropes; author Died During Production): When Kyon sees Hanyuu, he has to resist commenting on how cute she looks.
- Love's Sacrifices: Carmilla Karnstein initially tries to maintain the image of an Aloof Dark-Haired Girl and downplay her soft spot for babies and small children. When she meets three-year-old Bella Conrad, the vampire tries keeping her cool while the girl introduces herself — she doesn't even last a minute before she pulls Bella into a bear-hug, squealing at the top of her lungs over how cute Bella is. She is left in utter embarrassment when she realizes what she just did, but otherwise quickly adjusts to acting as an affectionate aunt towards her.
- Leviathan in Manehattan's Lone Guardian constantly struggles not to squeal or gush over the cuteness of the ponies she meets, trying to keep at least some dignity. When a foal kisses her to cheer her up, she finally breaks.
- Much like in canon, Weiss Schnee does this in My Huntsman Academia when she meets the puppy Izuku rescued. Much to the shock of her teammates.
- My Little Animaniacs (Animaniacs & My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic): The Cutie Mark Crusaders manage to affect the Brain of all characters this way, although he never expresses it.
- My Little Pony vs...: Rainbow Dash has this reaction to a Pikachu, up until she starts sensing static electricity nearby...
- A Subtle Knife (Worm & Young Justice (2010)): Edge has telepathic abilities around the same level than a Martian toddler. Miss Martian finds it positively adorable, but Edge can't help feeling emasculated when she gushes over his subconscious babbling.
- The various Madrigal's reactions in learning about Hiccup and Mirabel's mutual crushes on each other in The Dragon and the Butterfly can be summed up in a Squee because of just how goddamn cute they think it is.
Bleach
A Certain Magical Index
- A Certain Droll Hivemind:
- Misaka-11111 randomly leaves lunch in order to walk up to a squirrel and give it her crumbs; the Network is not happy that their passive electromaster powers cause most animals to flee from them. When her flatmates question her on this, she goes on a surprisingly impassioned rant about how Academy City's creation caused unnecessary environmental damage, destroying habitats, and now the few animals that can survive in an urban environment are treated as pests. Everyone stares.
"Welp," Abe Eiko said, smiling broadly and pretending to open a notebook. I am almost certain that is what she was doing. We do not think she has an invisible notebook. "Yui = fond of animals. Hey, 'Yoko, you should go show her pictures of your bunny!"
- During the attack on the mall, 11111 believes that a girl is trying to look like a panda, and doing a terrible job (she is not trying to look like a panda). The rest of the Network determines that she must be doing it in order to get people to let down their guards for her unspecified villainy. Throughout the fight, the Network spends an inordinate amount of time discussing cute pandas, and 11111 points out to the girl that red pandas are not actually pandas (she's not trying to look like a red panda either).
This is a useful fact for her to know. That may have made it harder for her to prepare her costume. Taxonomic confusion is problematic. Although if she was trying to dress up as a red panda, she should have brought a fluffy tail. The Network agrees that the fluffy tail of the red panda is its cutest feature.
- When 11111 complains that 10032 waited too long to rescue her, she still takes a moment to agree that 10032's cat mask was necessary, because cats are important.
Dragon Age
- Skyhold Academy Yearbook: Skye tends to have this effect on a lot of people, and apparently the cast of Dragon Age are collectively suckers for an infant. In a more specific instance, Rory is rendered almost speechless by her love of a baby druffalo on a visit to Redcliffe Farm.
Final Fantasy
Godzilla
- Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): The baby Manda, with his toddler-like, innocent and playful personality, attracts adoration from humans who see him up-close despite his massive size.
- In this non-canon crossover post by the author, San from Abraxas finds the still-human Vivienne from the "Graham Lives" AU to be an adorable sight.
Harry Potter
Hetalia: Axis Powers
Invader Zim
- Invader Zim: A Bad Thing Never Ends: As revealed in Chapter 18, Aldrich's ultimate Evil Plan is to unleash a horde of robotic cute animals on The City while all the adults are distracted by voting for him on Election Day, which all The City's children will feel compelled to pet, allowing the robots to drain their Childergy and give him enough for his end goal of warping reality to get rid of all children.
Jackie Chan Adventures
- This happens in The Ultimate Evil during Jackie and Shendu's canon fight in the finale of the first season. When Jackie uses the Monkey Talisman to turn Shendu into a rabbit, Valerie starts adoring his cuteness nearly immediately.
The Legend of Zelda
Mega Man
My Hero Academia
- In The Smiling Family series, Eri is so cute that almost nobody can ever say no to her, not even Aizawa is immune to this.
My Little Pony
- A Diplomatic Visit:
- In Chapter 4 of the sequel Diplomat at Large, Twilight Velvet falls head over heels for Ocellus when she meets the young changeling, who is rather startled to find this mare cooing at her.
- As seen in Chapter 6, even Rainbow Dash thinks baby hares are "cute little fuzzballs" when she sees them.
- Discord's New Business: In Sunset's chapter, Human!Fluttershy thinks Sunset Shimmer as a unicorn is the cutest thing ever, immediately wanting to give her mane brushes and tummy rubs.
- In Long Road to Friendship, Sunset Shimmer has to be the animal equivalent of a Drill Sergeant Nasty during her second visit at the animal shelter in order to get the animals to listen to her, except for one cute little puppy that listens to her from the beginning. Sunset immediately takes a liking to the puppy, even devolving into petting and baby talk with him... until she's noticed by Fluttershy. Then, Sunset denies everything.
- Oops! I'm Equine Again (author Died During Production): Sunset Shimmer ends up returning to her normal Unicorn form while in the human world, and Fluttershy and Vice-Principal Luna both find her adorable in this form. Fluttershy actually scoops her into a giant hug when she first sees her, thinking she's Sunset's pet, and Luna scratches her behind her ears while baby talking to her.
- The Pieces Lie Where They Fell: Human Applejack has a toned-down version of this when she sees Wind Breaker and promptly starts treating him like a big housecat. Human Fluttershy, on the other hand, can't help but gush when she sees Page's pony form.
- Sucker for a Cute Face: Adagio Dazzle fawns over Angel Bunny whenever they are in the same place.
Naruto
- Catch Your Breath: Keisuke Gekko has this reaction to Kakashi's summoned dogs (particularly Pakkun), though a bit more articulate than the usual use of this trope. She still has to be specifically asked to let go of the puppy before doing so.
Kei: He's so cute. [...] From the looks of it, you're about eight weeks old. But since you're Kakashi's, you're probably closer to a year or two, right? Ninken live longer than civilian dogs, and you'll be able to use chakra like your master soon enough. [giggle] We'll be counting on you!
Kei's narration: PUPPIES!
- In Kamikakushi, Tobirama evokes this reaction in quite a few people. Granted, most of them are youkai and civilians tend to have the opposite reaction, especially priests...
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Once Upon a Time
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
- Resonance Days has Arzt and Nie, who have this reaction to Ticky Nikki. Given that the latter is a Psycho for Hire, she doesn't much appreciate it. They're also often reduced to fawning over open acts of affection, given their highly romantic view of their world and situation.
RWBY
- Children of Remnant: In the main fic, Salem demanded five children as hostages. She abused them in every way possible, denying them food and beds and punishing them severely when they asked for such basic necessities, only to relent when they had "earned" them — all part of a decades-long Batman Gambit which would likely end with at least one of the children dead and certainly the entire world at war.
- Professor Arc II: Headmaster Arc: Neo, much to Jaune's chagrin, is taken by a miniature Nevermore to the point of keeping it as a pet.
- In the side story Children of the Grimmlands, on the other hand, Salem takes one look at the children, decides that they are too adorable to hurt, and finds her mothering instincts coming screaming back. She has to scramble to find them food and beds because she can't have these little angels sleeping on the piles of dirty rags she had prepared for them.
Star Wars
- In The Desert Storm:
- Ben is a hardcore Mandalorian Jedi Master who terrifies most of his peers and who even Mandalorians think is insane (and for good reason). Being a battle-hardened time-travelling Obi-Wan Kenobi with rampant PTSD, Survivor's Guilt, and an epic Guilt Complex relating to Anakin, this is not surprising. He is also a complete soft touch around little Anakin, at his most content when playing with babies in the Temple creches, and one smile from baby Beru Ka'ra makes his heart instantly turn to goo. Yaddle notes with some amusement that he's particularly fond of young ones. His padawan, Obi-Wan (his past self), later suggests that Crechemaster would be something to consider when Ben retires from active service, and Ben doesn't disagree.
- On a sadder note, Shmi also notices it, and that his fondness for/knack for dealing with young ones isn't just natural, it's the product of having raised a child, and as she correctly guesses, having lost one. The fact that Ben sometimes refers to a toddling Anakin as 'Luke' early on, which even Anakin takes note of, doesn't help, and leads her to assume that Luke is the child he raised and lost (not the other timeline's Anakin).
- Younglings of Yoda's species elicit this from more or less everyone, and considering that they age far slower than other beings, it lasts far longer. Yoda himself was a particularly adorable child, and as his grandmaster, Fay, relates to Qui-Gon in amusement, "you have no idea how aggravating it is when you're over a century old and the first thing anyone does when they see you is coo." Ben later implies that he's still capable of eliciting it when he wants to, teasing Fay that Yoda got her to take a seat on the Jedi Council by letting his ears droop and looking sad, whereupon she caved like wet tissue. She just grumbles that he should wait until he has a grandpadawan and try denying them anything — not knowing that he did have a grandpadawan, Ahsoka Tano.
- Korkie induces this in everyone, even given the awkwardness of the fact that she's Obi-Wan and Satine's daughter.
Total Drama
- Unbreakable Red Silken Thread: Sammy tends to have this affect on people, to the point even Heather is "weakened" by her presence. Notably, she is one of three girls that Cody hasn't shown a hint of perv towards at any point, along with Jo and Dawn.
Yu-Gi-Oh!
