Cruel And Unusual Death / JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Go To

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is no stranger to having characters die in unique and painful manners (especially after Stands are introduced in Part 3). However, a few deaths stand out.

Phantom Blood

  • What Dio does to Jonathan's dog, Danny: muzzled with steel wire and locked in the incinerator, then burned alive when the family's butler obliviously turns it on. As bad as it is in the anime, it's even worse in the manga, where we actually see Danny come bursting out of the incinerator engulfed in flames where he thrashes and struggles on the ground in agony before finally dying.

Battle Tendency

  • The Pillar Men have the ability to absorb humans and vampires into their bodies. Obviously, the process is very slow and painful for the victim, unless you have Hamon training.

Stardust Crusaders

  • Devo, whose Stand, Ebony Devil, is sliced to pieces by Polnareff. Due to the rule that Stand Users receive any damage their Stand receives, the result is Devo's body looking like it's been thrown into a wood chipper.
  • J. Geil gets turned into a Human Pincushion by Polnareff, who then proceeds to stab him through the mouth, throw him into the air, and impale him on a spiked gate. HEADFIRST.
  • Empress is an enemy Stand that takes the form of a parasite that slowly grows on the infected victim. Once it gets big enough, it will eat the victim from the inside out. However, when it infected Joseph, Empress itself had quite a gruesome death. Joseph manages to restrain Empress' body with hardened coal tar, wrapped his Stand Hermit Purple around its body and a heightened rod near a building, creating something of a noose. Then, he proceeds to leap upward and gravity does its thing as the descending force causes Hermit Purple to shred Empress into a bloody mess. It wasn't quite immediate either, as we're first treated to Empress being mercilessly tighten like no tomorrow by Hermit Purple, as its razor sharp thorns finish the job. And, just like before, Empress' user, Nena, suffers the same fate, being shredded, but apparently out of thin air.
  • Enya Geil gets eaten alive from the inside-out by one of DIO's flesh buds.
  • While the results are mostly off-screen, the way Iggy defeats Pet Shop is rather brutal, as he bites on Pet Shop's beak before he shoots another ice missile. Without a way out, the pressure of the ice makes Pet Shop's beak start to crack and release steam before his head is blown off. Still is a rather fitting end considering how much of a sadistic beast he was.

Diamond is Unbreakable

  • Shigechi gets fatally wounded by one of Killer Queen's explosions, then spends a large amount of time wandering around in pain before being finished off by another explosion.
  • Rohan Kishibe is killed when he activates Bites the Dust, with him being painfully blown up with multiple small explosions from the inside. Luckily, Bites the Dust is deactivated before his death becomes permanent.
  • Yoshikage Kira goes out with one of these. First, he's injured multiple times in his battle against Josuke, then Jotaro uses Star Platinum: The World to send him flying with multiple broken bones. Then an ambulance going in reverse accidentally runs him over, ripping his face off before crushing his head.

Vento Aureo

  • In an additional scene added in the anime, Formaggio is revealed to have performed an assassination with one of these, using his Stand ability to place a car in the target's drink then expanding it after he's drunk it, causing him to burst, and have his date almost immediately crushed and killed by it as well.
  • Sorbet was killed via being chopped into 36 pieces starting from the feet, with his friend/lover Gelato Forced to Watch and panicking to the point of suffocating on his own gag. The anime makes it worse by having Cioccolata perform the deed, meaning Sorbet was likely conscious through the whole thing thanks to Cioccolata's Stand.
  • Illuso is infected by Purple Haze's flesh-eating virus, causing his skin to blister and melt, followed by a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from the Stand itself that ends with it quite literally punching his face off his body and then his entire body completely melting into a puddle of sizzling goo.
  • Cioccolata gets shot in the head, the bullet is then turned into a stag beetle by Gold Experience, which proceeds to eat his brain and burst out the side of his head, gets beaten by Giorno for 7 pages/30 seconds (it should be mentioned that Giorno's Stand causes the victim of the attack's perception of time to slow down, meaning Cioccolata felt like he was being beaten for what could have been hours) and finally crushed by a garbage truck. And he deserved every single second of it.
  • Diavolo winds up doomed to suffer these forever. After getting struck by Gold Experience Requiem's power, he becomes trapped in an infinite Resurrection/Death Loop, dying in every scenario possible only to be resurrected just so he can die again. It doesn't take long for him to go insane from fear and paranoia.

Stone Ocean

  • The security guard in the courtyard who shoots Jolyne on Pucci's orders gets pelted by a hail of poison dart frogs summoned by Weather Report. He screams in agony as his skin starts melting from the poison, soon becoming grotesquely swollen, and desperately begs Pucci to save him before falling over and dying.
  • Sports Maxx goes through this twice. First, Ermes uses Kiss to trap him in a pipe and drown him in sewage. When his Stand brings him back as a zombie, the No-Holds-Barred Beatdown he takes when Ermes fights him again causes his Stand disc to eject, leaving him to painfully disintegrate into ash without his Stand keeping him alive.
  • Anasui turns Guccio's ribcage into a bear trap that digs into D-an-G's arm. What we later see of Guccio is a bloody, mangled, unrecognizable mass of flesh and bone that can barely be called a human.
  • D-an-G has his body forcefully invaded by Foo Fighters, who then proceeds to tear his jaw off the hinge and rip his head off.
  • Pucci is defeated when Emporio, using both Burning Down the House and Weather Report's Stand disc, traps himself and Pucci in the Ghost Room with an increased, lethal level of oxygen in the air that affects Pucci faster than it does Emporio due to Made in Heaven's time acceleration ablities. Then Emporio beats Pucci to death with Weather Report, crushing his head in the process.

Steel Ball Run

  • Dr. Ferdinand is mauled to death by a pack of angry mountain lions.
  • Hot Pants dies when Love Train causes a spider, flies, wooden window frames, and glass to get stuck under her skin. The spider's venom most likely killed her instantly, however.
  • Those who come under the effect of Tusk ACT4 will have their body broken into spinning segments before being completely disintegrated.

JoJolion

  • Jobin's lung is pierced by the dip tube from a can of hairspray, courtesy of Toru's Wonder of U. He doesn't notice at first, but soon, he starts bleeding at an alarming rate, collapses, and dies screaming his wife and son's name.
