Trueblade Seeker is a YouTuber that, inspired by Just A Pancake and Jamezietocool, made various videos in a similar vein to the former's, though incorporates some of his skits with the latter's. Instead of Kingdom Hearts, however, this channel mostly focuses on the DLC-purchasingly popular Final Fantasy series.

His notable nutshells are:

Trueblade Seeker's channel can be found here. The works inspired from Just A Pancake are found in the "Just A Pancake ripoff in a nutshell" folder.

Trueblade Seeker's videos contain examples of:

  • Abridged Series: It does effectively describe Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake, as well as other topics, in a few minutes.
  • Absurdly Long Wait:
    • "Endwalker Launch" has Nomura look through a telescope to see a line going from the earth to the moon. Yoshi tells him that's everyone trying to log into Final Fantasy XIV.
    • "Episode Aranea" has Aranea standing outside for hours freezing in the cold weather just waiting for her (Cancelled) DLC to come.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Noctis doesn't seem to care at all about Luna. Whenever someone (such as Ignis or Cloud, though Cloud was actually referring to Yuna) mentions her, he simply replies "Who?"
  • Adaptational Sexuality:
    • Tifa and Aerith are both bisexual: they both like Cloud, like in canon, but they also have a thing for each other, and Cloud even encourages the thing they have for each other. Cloud himself is Ambiguously Bi (he likes both Tifa and Aerith, and he welcomes Barret in their Polyamory), though he wouldn't date Sephiroth for anything.
    • "Final Fantasy XV in a nutshell" and other related videos pretty much turned the Homoerotic Subtext between the main guys into text, with Noctis being Bi since he still wants to get laid with Luna, but did the deed with his boyfriends instead after she dies.
    • Poked fun with Jack Garland when he is surprised that he's gay, then later bisexual after recovering his memories.
  • Affably Evil: Most villains are this, but Ardyn and later Garland take the cake.
  • Anti-Climax: In "Smash Ultimate DLC 2," Nintendo and Sakurai felt Min-Min's reveal was something of a let-down after the drama bomb that came from Byleth's reveal, especially since ARMS came out in 2017 and there are no plans for a sequel.
  • Arch-Enemy: After Episode Ardyn, Bahamut became this for Noctis, as he blames Bahamut for Jack trolling him when it was entirely Jack's idea. (Though given how the DLC implies Noct's Bahamut is an accomplice of Jack's...)
  • Armor-Piercing Question: In "Sora VS Sephiroth in a Nutshell", Sora asks Sephiroth to come back to Kingdom Hearts because the fans want Sora to fight him again. Sephiroth brags that he can easily beat them all while Sora counters that people have beaten Sephiroth before and sometimes with crazy restrictions like a Low-Level Run. Sephiroth tries to downplay how many people can actually beat him until Cloud figures out that Sephiroth is actually scared of Sora beating him and asks him if it's true.
Cloud: Wait, Sephiroth. Don't tell me. Are you afraid of Sora?
Sephiroth: *Mind snaps from the question* What the #$@! did you just say!?
    Cloud: Jackpot!
    Sephiroth: No I'm not!
Cloud: That's why you don't want to go back to Kingdom Hearts. You don't want to get spectacularly dunked on by him.
    Sephiroth: Shut up, darling!
  • Backing Away Slowly: Sephiroth does this in "Sora VS Sephiroth in a nutshell" when Sora shows he was able to take selfies in the middle of a boss fight by constantly dodging. This gets Sephiroth nervous since he bragged about how he beaten Sora in the Kingdom Hearts games before.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In "Nintendo Direct 9.13.2022", when Harada asks Sony if he can get a PlayStation 5 so he can play his then-upcoming game, Tekken 8, Sony says they don't have one, not because they're rare, but because the price went up.
  • Broken Record:
    • Microsoft's method of "negotiating" with Nintendo is begging him to let Master Chief into Smash Bros.
      Microsoft: Please?
Nintendo: No. (repeat for hours, if not days)
    • A similar gag is used between Sakurai and Disney with the former asking the latter permission to use Sora for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
      Sakurai: Please?
      Disney: No.
      [Repeats three more times]
      Sakurai: Please?
      Disney: I'll buy Nintendo.
      Sakurai: Please no.
    • A similar gag also appears in "Dissidia" and other videos whenever someone asks for their summon, which always ends up with someone being beaten.
    • Gilgamesh and Gladio's encounters have the latter denying that the former is who he really is.
      Gilgamesh: I'm Gilgamesh.
      Gladio: No, you're not.
  • Cassandra Truth:
    • Nobody, even Noctis, ever believes Luna every time she says that she's a very important character, even as she summons Leviathan to destroy a whole city in response.
Luna: Hello there, I'm the female protagonist in this game. I'm a very important character.
      *FF fans die of laughter*
Luna: Also, I will summon a Leviathan and destroy your whole city.
      Citizens of Altissia: Okay, sure.
    • Similarly, Gladio doesn't believe even one bit that Gilgamesh is who he is since he's very different from his dimension-traveling counterpart.
  • Closet Key: Parodied, Aerith and Tifa realize their attraction to women by seeing Cloud in a dress.
  • Cynical Mentor: Cor certainly tries to keep Noctis on track with his duties, and he quickly turns into this after learning the prince hasn't gotten laid yet and forgot to collect all the Royal Arms since he's busy choosing dinner. In Gladio's episode, Gladio pretty much ignores all his warnings and advice in fighting Gilgamesh, so he hopes that Gladio will die instead.
    Cor: We're all gonna die.
  • The Dreaded: As seen in the "Cloud vs. Sephiroth" and "Sora vs. Sephiroth" videos, Sora is this to Sephiroth, who is this to Cloud. Disney is this to Sakurai and Microsoft is this to Nintendo.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Trublade Seeker's style for his videos was a little different compared to their current versions:
    • Most of the earlier episodes had subtitles as part of the videos. Later videos would ditch them.
    • The voice used for Tetsuya Nomura was the generic deep-sounding male voice while his later appearances used a more youthful-sounding male voice. The voice used for Square-Enix had the youthful generic male voice before it was switched over to the deeper version.
    • "Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a Nutshell" shows off the CEO of Square-Enix while Square-Enix itself is its own character. None of the other company heads in later episodes would show off their CEOs.
    • Recurring jokes and gags were frequent in the earlier episodes whereas later episodes would rely on them less often.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: The force of Chaos at the end of Strangers of Paradise is given a really deep voice during its confrontation with Jack.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: In "Cloud VS Sephiroth in a Nutshell", Sephiroth tells Cloud he doesn't want to fight him and wants an Italian barbeque instead. Cloud wonders what the hell an Italian barbeque is and then quickly realizes that Sephiroth is going to kill Mario, which he succeeds in doing.
  • Falling Damage: Mocked in the "Final Fantasy VII'' videos where Cloud complains that there's no fall damage whenever someone falls from a great height.
Cloud: We survived, really? Did nobody die from falling from this game?
  • Food as Bribe: In "Tifa Italian Story", Sephiroth has a story to tell about Tifa in Italy. Cloud and Tifa both tell Sephiroth to get the hell out of the room but Cloud instantly relents when Sephiroth whips out a box of pizza, despite Tifa's protests.
Tifa: Get the hell out of here!
Cloud: She's right. Whatever that story you have, we're not gonna give you a single second to—
Sephiroth: I bought you a pizza.
Cloud: I give you one minute.
    Tifa: Goddamnit! Really, Cloud?
    Sephiroth: With stuffed crust.
    Cloud: Two minutes.
    Tifa That's not even Italian!
Jesse: Thanks for helping me out. Wanna do something together tomorrow? Wink, wink.
    Cloud: No.
    Jesse: I'll make pizzas.
    Cloud: Actually, yes.
  • Fountain of Expies:
    • Made fun of with certain characters like Leslie and Spiritus due to how similar they look to Nomura's other characters.
Leslie: Hello there, my name is Noctis, I mean Raiku, I mean Yozora, I mean Leslie.
Spiritus: Hello, my name is Ansem, I mean Xehanort, I mean Spiritus.
    • While introducing themselves in "Dissidia in a nutshell", Cloud is "Emo #1", Squall is "Emo #2" and Lightning is "Emo #3".
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Just like Just a Pancake, blocks of text in his videos that only pop up for a single frame appears to anyone who uses Pokémon Speak.
  • Friendly Enemy: While Dissidia Final Fantasy (2015) in a nutshell doesn't really show this between the Warrior of Light and Garland (it comes across more as an Enemy Mine against Shinryu, especially considering how Chaos canonically is an Unwitting Pawn to Shinryu), Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin in a nutshell establishes their relationships as this, with Garland aka Jack being excited to meet the Warrior of Light and the Warrior of Light being happy to go on with Jack's plan to troll Noctis with the "Would you like to purchase this DLC?" Running Gag and a Rick Roll.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: This running gag comes back but with a twist. All the ones who didn't believe gets horrible fates like Ravus killing Caligo because he didn't belive him and Ignis regretting not believing Ardyn since his boyfriend Noctis will still die in the end.
  • Get Out!: In "Episode Gladiolus in a nutshell", Gilgamesh says "I'm Gilgamesh and get the hell out of here and never come back" after getting tired of Gladio not believing him.
  • Limited Animation: The characters just move/slide around and slightly tilt since they are cutouts of their images. They move normally if gameplay footage is involved.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Instead of drinking anything alcoholic, Sakurai pops open a Coke Zero. If it's gonna be a long day, like Microsoft pestering Nintendo to put Master Chief into "Smash Bros" until he relents, Sakurai needs a freaking case.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: "Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a Nutshell" shows Yoshi-P finally getting the game in working order after spending a lot of time trying to fix and remake it. He assures everyone nothing will go wrong, only for the game to suddenly explode in flames due to the servers crashing.
Yoshida: We finally finished Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. And hopefully, nothing will go wrong anytime soon.
Developer: Boss, NA and EU servers are down!
    [Game explodes into flames]
Yoshida: [Falls over in exasperation] ***
  • Mathematician's Answer:
    • In "XIV 1.0," when discussing the Metacritic score for the game (49).
Komoto: How is the review score?
      Assistant: Bad.
Komoto: Internet bad? Or real bad?
      Assistant: Yes.
    • In "State of Play September 14, 2023", Nintendo is blown away by the trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and has questions for Square-Enix.
SE: So what do you think?
      Nintendo: I have questions.
      SE: How many questions?
      Nintendo: Yes.
Sony: How many can you answer?
      SE: No.
  • Morton's Fork:
    • Ardyn's choices in his episode always lead him to be forced into darkness, with the "light" choice having Aulea torturing him so he will choose darkness.
      Ardyn: Okay I'm darkness.
      Bahamut:: Thank you.
Ardyn: Fuck my life, whatever, I'm a bad guy now. *Tidus Laugh*
    • Cloud's choices when Aerith asks if he wants a flower will just end up with Aerith putting one on him, and he even lampshades it.
      Cloud: I really don't have a choice, do I?
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: When Iris says to Noctis that she won't ever get laid because the person she likes won't ever get laid, Noctis wonders who that is.
  • Only in It for the Money:
    • Mr. Square-Enix is portrayed as this, especially when he's trying to insert gacha mechanics into games or trying to get on board with NFTs to make even more money. Several episodes contrast him with Yoshida and Tetsuya that are making games as an art form rather than doing it just for the paycheck.
    • Cloud isn't interested in anything else about his jobs except for pizza and getting paid, gets annoyed if his payment gets delayed or if he's dragged into helping others out, and he usually demands everyone he worked for to pay him upfront whenever they think he's a nice person.
      *Cloud gives flower to Tifa*
Tifa: Wow, how nice of you
Cloud: Now give me my money.
      Tifa: Never mind.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Jack starts getting his memories back and begins to care about the plot of the story in Stranger of Paradise, his companions ask him if he's feeling ok.
Sophia: Are you ok, Jack? It has been ten seconds since you said Chaos.
    Jack: Um, what is Chaos?
*Everyone looks at Jack in shock*
Ash: Oh, no. Something is wrong with Jack. We have to fix him!
  • Pokémon Speak:
    • Final Fantasy XV's Cid only speaks with "I am Cid".
    • Similarly, Gilgamesh only speaks with "I'm Gilgamesh".
    • With the exception of Bahamut, all Astrals (who are referred to as Summons) speak in "Sup bro?" While Bahamut does speak like this as well in the recap for the main game, he drops it in "Episode Ardyn", which reveals him as being Evil All Along.
    • After killing his friends and losing everything except Chaos, Jack only growls "Chaos" while talking to the Lunarians and one of them even asks where are his subtitles.
  • Polyamory:
    • It turns out that Noctis, Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio are each other's boyfriends and got laid after the time skip before confronting Ardyn. Noctis himself refers to Ignis as his first, Prompto as his second, and Gladio his third boyfriend. Prompto later says in his episode that Noctis is his first, Ignis his second, and Gladio his third boyfriend.
    • When Cloud and Tifa both tell Barret that Aerith is their girlfriend, Barret asks if they're a love triangle, to which Cloud replies that they're, in fact, a polyamory, and then asks Barret if he wants to join.
  • Profanity Police: In "Sora VS Sephiroth in a nutshell", Cloud asks Sora why he gives a shit about someone like Sephiroth. Sora tells Cloud to watch his language, only for him to remind Sora that they're not with Disney, so it's ok to swear. Nintendo pops in to disagree with the swearing.
Cloud: Are you nuts, Sora? Why are you even give a shit about him?
    Sora: Language, Cloud!
Cloud: It's fine. Disney is not here.
Nintendo: *In the background* I'm still here, you know.
  • The Remake: Played entirely for laughs in "Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion". Since the remake hasn't changed the script much, the remake parody also recycles the script and gags used in the original parody, although Genesis and Ifrit get entirely new lines in the remake episode.
  • Remembered I Could Fly: In "Smash Ultimate DLC 2," while discussing Kazuya's debut trailer, he approves of him throwing every fighter in the volcano, but gets scared of him throwing "his baby," Kirby. Harada has to remind him Kirby can fly.
  • Running Gag:
    • "You can trust me." "okay i believe you". In the Final Fantasy XV videos, it's usually Ardyn who says the first line.
    • Noctis's desire to get laid.
    • Noctis's desire to sleep and his dreams showing his appearances on other media like Brotherhood and crossovers like Tekken 7 and Dissidia Final Fantasy (2015).
    • Aranea saying she's best girl in every appearance.
    • "Like I give a shit." in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Just like how "Okay I believe you" has the speaker's face photoshopped onto Ven's, here, the speaker's face is photoshopped onto Cloud's.
    • The audience loudly cheering whenever Tifa shows up.
    • "Hello, there." Mostly used by Sephiroth and Ardyn.
    • Jack saying "Chaos" at every chance he can get in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
    • Characters (mostly Noctis) asking something before getting a response of "Would you like to purchase this _____ to know what happen?".
    • The female lead asks the male lead if they where a better love story than Noctis and Luna. The answer is always yes.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Aranea says "I ship it" with Ardyn agreeing after watching Prompto riding away back to his three boyfriends.
    • Cloud ships Tifa and Aerith after the two bonded over some filler chapters.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Jack in "Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin in a nutshell" makes several references during his montage of beating up his enemies in only his boxers:
    • Luna summons Blue Sea Snake Dragon to destroy Altissia in response to everyone not believing in her.
    • "Episode Ignis" has Ardyn saying the infamous "It was me, Dio" scene, replacing Jojo and Dio's names with Gladio and his, after revealing himself.
    • The entire motorcycle chase scene in "Final Fantasy VII in a nutshell (part 1)" is one to Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series, with Roche speaking like Abridged Jack Atlas.
    • In "Final Fantasy XVI in a nutshell (part 1)", and Part 2 there are several lines taken from Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
  • Skewed Priorities: In Stranger of Paradise The Warriors of Light are more concerned that Jack's memories are gone than they are about Cornelia being infested with monsters.
King of Cornelia: The whole world is dying ri-
Sophia: Not now world Jack comes first!
  • Smash Cut:
    • After Jack saves Corneria, he sees Princess Sarah is alive and well, only for her to drop dead the moment he looks away.
Sarah: You did it, Jack! We are saved!
Jack: Okay, I'm just gonna turn around for a second and *Cut to Sarah lying on the ground dying* God damn it!
    • Prompto panics as the humongous Titan prepares to punch everyone, then it suddenly cuts to Titan kneeling in defeat.
Prompto: Oh no, we can't fight that thing. We are all doom, there is no way we can surv-
      *Titan defeated*
      Noctis: Well that was easy.
    • In "Episode Ignis", Ravus and Ignis talk about teaming up to save Luna before immediately cutting to a dead Luna.
  • Sound-Effect Bleep: Whenever swearing gets censored, a sound effect from the character's video game series is used, such as the coin sound effect for Nintendo and menu confirmation sound effect for Final Fantasy characters and Square-Enix.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Since he wasn't supposed to appear yet in the original story, Sephiroth's appearances in "Final Fantasy VII in a nutshell" is just saying "Hello there" to scare Cloud before moving on to the next scene.
  • Stunned Silence: In "Smash Ultimate DLC 2," when Nintendo is told Steve is owned by Microsoft, Nintendo goes into a catatonic state since he has to deal with Microsoft's "negotiations."
  • Take a Third Option: Cloud's choices in "Final Fantasy VII Remake in a nutshell (Part 2)" have two Running Gag lines ("Okay I *do not* believe you" and "Like I give a shit") as choices, then a third one pops out to combine the two answers so his answer is "Okay, I do not give a shit".
  • Take That!:
    • Cloud believes Noctis and Luna's love story is terrible, and apparently he's the only one who knows it. Likewise, Jack and Sarah believe they are a better couple than Noctis and Luna with Jack even saying "Fuck Luna".
    • While Noctis complains about how long the hallways are in chapter 13 of his game, the last scene is Lightning running a hallway in "Final Fantasy XIII".
  • Take That, Audience!:
    • Tifa in "Tifa Italian Story" takes a jab at her fanboys who got upset over her wearing another layer of clothing on her chest in Final Fantasy VII Remake and says they're acting like a bunch of teenage boys who never saw a woman before. Cloud chimes in by saying it's actually a bunch of entitled 30-year-old men whining about Tifa's chest size.
    • The Reveal in "Final Fantasy VII Remake in a Nutshell (Part 2)" is that the Whispers are actually the FF Fanbase who wants to keep the story like in the original game and their boss form are all their complaints about the changes in the game combined.
  • Sequel Gap: Invoked during "Nintendo Direct 2.8.2023 in a Nutshell." Nintendo is surprised the last time Samba de Amigo came out was on the Wii in 2008.
  • Tempting Fate: "Final Fantasy XV in a Nutshell" has characters saying that they hope Noctis's dad is not dying soon before cutting into Ignis saying his dad is dead.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Barbecue is this for Sephiroth. Gladio is obsessed with Cup Noodles. Cloud likes pizzas and is even willing to take a whole pie from his arch-nemesis Sephiroth.
  • The Triple: In Final Fantasy XVI in a Nutshell part 2, Jill asks Clive three questions. If she will do something cool, if she was an important character, and if they had a better love story than Noctis and Luna. Clive is silent on the first two, but instantly replies yes on the last.
  • Troubled Production:
    • "Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a Nutshell" is Trueblade's abridged version of how the game's abysmal launch led to Yoshi-P being brought in to save both the game and Square-Enix, from financial ruin.
    • Likewise "Final Fantasy Versus XIII in a nutshell" summarizes the Troubled Production that occurred on "XV" like putting Nomura in so many projects and Tabata rewriting the game. This led to Nomura's passive-aggressive By "No", I Mean "Yes" answer when Square Enix asks if he's mad about what happened.
  • Villainous Crush: Sephiroth towards Cloud. Cloud is naturally annoyed by it and Sephiroth gets annoyed by Sora calling him "Sephy", which he says only Cloud is allowed to call him that.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Jack becomes this after absorbing Chaos and becoming Garland, what with him being the director of the entire Final Fantasy Franchise.
  • Vocal Dissonance: All Astrals speak with the same male voice. Leviathan (and Shiva, who doesn't appear in Trueblade Seeker's videos) are female.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Jack in "Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin in a nutshell" has a montage of killing various monsters without a shirt on.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: In "XIV 1.0," Yoshi has this reaction to Motomu Toriyama, the director of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, pulling the Crystal Engine out of the burning wreck.
Toriyama: Wait no, don't burn that. I still need it for Final Fantasy XIII sequel.
Yoshi: Aren't you already made one?
    Toriyama: Yeah? So?
Yoshi: Are you seriously make another freaken one?
    Toriyama: Anyway, goodbye.
  • You Need to Get Laid: The reason why Regis sends Noctis on a journey is so he can get laid with Lunafreya for peaceful diplomacy and everyone treats it as Serious Business. Since Luna got Aerith'ed in the end and a time skip happened so he's still a virgin at 30, he did the deed with his three boyfriends instead.
Regis: Please just go get laid before I die.
    Noctis: Nice.
  • You No Take Candle: Downplayed. Everyone speaks in slightly fragmented English and is done for laughs.
