Terry McMillan (born October 18, 1951) is an American author. Many of McMillan's novels are about the lives of African-American women. Several of her books have been adapted into films; most notably Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Waiting to Exhale in particular was her breakout novel, as it cast a spotlight on black American women, whom are under-served and underrepresented in the literary world.
