TV Globo (formerly known as Rede Globo) is a Brazilian television network founded by Roberto Marinho on April 26, 1965 and is owned by Grupo Globo under their Globo division. The network is the second-largest in the world (the first-largest being ABC) and by far the largest in Brazil. The network is known for producing cash-cow telenovelas, variety programs, entertainment programs, reality shows and journalism. The network is very famous for creating the "standard" primetime in Brazilian television: from Monday through Saturday, four telenovelas and and a newscast. Aside from the network itself, Globo also runs a collection of cable tv and pay-per-view channels under the name Canais Globo. These include:

  • GNTnote  (female-oriented programs)
  • Futura (educational programs (owned by Fundação Roberto Marinho))
  • SporTV (sports broadcasts)
    • Premiere (football broadcasts)
    • Combate (PPV boxing events)

  • Modo Viagem (travel programs (previously known as Mais Globosat))
  • Viva (programs from Globo's vault)
  • Gloob (children’s programs)

  • MultiShow (music programs)
  • TeleCine (premium first-run films; co-owned with Disney Brazil, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures and Universal)
  • Megapix (dubbed films)

Globo also owns a international until which operates international channels and two Portuguese channels as well as a streaming service known as Globoplay.
