Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan (born 27 December 1965) is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood films.
Khan, who made his acting debut with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. He went on to star in some of Bollywood's most successful films, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Biwi No.1 (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films of five separate years during his career.
In 1999, Khan won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and since then has starred in several critical and commercial successes, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), No Entry (2005) and Partner (2007). Khan has thus established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Hindi cinema.

- Action Hero: A lot of his films nowadays have him as an action hero, him doing a lot of his own stunts, has recently started learning martial arts, yet still retains a level of comedy, due to a lot of his recent films being action comedies.
- Determinator: A lot of his characters are this, and he is one in real life too. In August 2011 he admitted he suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve disorder commonly known as the suicide disease. In an interview he said that he has been quietly suffering it for the past seven years, but now the pain’s become unbearable. It has even affected his voice, making it much harsher. He has still continued acting, regardless of the pain, and most notably, he has quietly been fighting this disease without anyone knowing for seven years, an amazing feat by anyone's standards.
- Shirtless Scene: Oh, so much. While in his earlier career days, he didn't do it as much, nowadays each and every single film of his has a shirtless scene. Most notably in Dabaang, where the shirt just rips off of his body, with no one even touching it, displaying his abs in full glory during a fight scene. Oh, and that film was a huge block buster hit.
