His books tend to feature rather interesting gambits, and more often than not the real baddies of his books tend to get a dose of Laser-Guided Karma (e.g. a weapon they plan to use on someone else gets used on them). Additionally, his books also tend to embody a rather quirky form of a right-wing Canadian nationalist view of the world and the United States in particular: Rohmer clearly has no love of the bullying tactics the USA can engage in, but also tends to have a dim view of left-wing politicians of any country: his expies of Pierre Trudeau range from being necessary agents to the plot, to being blowhards who find themselves weakened badly as the story progresses.
Probably fairly presciently for writing in the 1970s, Rohmer predicted the rise of right-wing political figures in the USA and the UK, generally endowing the US with neoconservative or at the very least pro-business Presidents.
