Tropes associated with his roles include:
- Celebrity Crush: Per his Twitter, when he was 14 Kohli "once cried myself to sleep because my cousin told me that Natalie Portman would *never* date me, even if we were the only two people left on the planet."
- Colbert Bump: In 2020, he trolled the Star Wars fanbase by suggesting he may be playing an adult Ezra Bridger in the then-upcoming second season of The Mandalorian, though he later revealed the whole stunt was to promote The Haunting of Bly Manor, which would also be coming out around the same time as The Mandalorian. In any case, it made him a big enough name in the Star Wars fandom despite not even being an actor in it (...yet?) and has people actually hoping he plays a live-action adult Ezra at some point; got the attention of Pedro Pascal, who followed him on Twitter after the whole debacle and expressed interest in working with him); and also seems to have greatly boosted the popularity of The Haunting of Bly Manor and his subsequent roles. It also has apparently worked against him (though he was lighthearted about it), as he eventually got sick of the Ezra jokes that he blocked all keywords related to it on his Twitter.
- Production Posse: A member of Mike Flanagan's, who gave him major roles in both Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, a guest role in The Midnight Club (2022), and The Fall of the House of Usher (2023).
- Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He's 6'4, dark-haired and good-looking, a fact many of his roles are quick to have pointed out about them.
