Nigel Stock (21 September 1919 - 23 June 1986) was a British actor. He is best remembered for playing Dr. Watson in the 1960s BBC TV adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories, alongside two different actors as Holmes; first Douglas Wilmer, then Peter Cushing.
He was a stalwart of genre television including: The Saint, Danger Man, The Avengers, Adam Adamant Lives!, The Prisoner, Doomwatch, Colditz, Van der Valk, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Doctor Who and Yes, Minister. His notable film work includes Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Brighton Rock, The Dam Busters and The Great Escape.
