Melanie Kay Hutsell (born August 2, 1968 in Maryville, Tennessee) is an American comedian, actress, and writer. An improv performer in Chicago, she played Jan in The Real Live Brady Bunch, a live-performed reenactment of The Brady Bunch that became a cult sensation in The '90s. The show’s success raised her profile enough so that she gained a slot on Saturday Night Live in 1991. Staying on SNL for three years, she continued to play Jan Brady, as well as impressions of Mayim Bialik, Tammy Wynette and Tori Spelling.
Hutsell married Fred Rapoport in 1997. They had their first child a couple of years later, and Hutsell left show business to raise her children. She would stay out of the limelight for about a decade before returning to comedy in 2009.
