Medialab was a French animation studio founded by Alain Guiot in 1990. It was spun off from Videosystem in 1990 to focus on 3D animation for post-production work and the production of the movie Starwatcher. After Guiot was killed in a car accident in 1992, the company was acquired by Canal+, which cancelled the production of Starwatcher and instead focusing on television animation.

The company acquired the rights to produce a Donkey Kong Country cartoon from Nintendo, but fired the original writers after they produced scripts that were judged terrible and featured content unacceptable for a children's program. The company contacted Canadian animation studio Nelvana to assist in producing the show and rewrite the scripts (as the storyboards were already completed before the scripts were changed). Parallel to the DKC series, it also produced the programming block La planète de Donkey Kong (later retitled DKTV) for France 2 between 1996 and 2001.

The company was reacquired by Videosystem in 1999, and filled for bankruptcy in 2000.
