Mary Kay Place (born September 23, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an American actress, director, and writer.

She best known for her Emmy Award-winning role as Loretta Haggers on the TV series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and for her appearances in such films as The Big Chill, Being John Malkovich, and Girl, Interrupted.

She also recorded two albums for Columbia Records between 1976 and 1977. Her first album, Tonite! At the Capri Lounge: Loretta Haggers, was actually recorded as her Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman character Loretta Haggers, while the followup, Aimin' to Please, was credited to Place herself.
