Mary Harron (born January 12, 1953 in Bracebridge, Ontario) is a Canadian director and screenwriter who broke into feature filmmaking with 1996’s I Shot Andy Warhol. Previously she had worked as a music critic.
The daughter of Canadian actor and comedian Don Harron, Harron was raised in Canada and the United Kingdom, attaining a bachelor’s degree in English from Oxford University. During her time in England she dated future Prime Minister Tony Blair. Her husband, John C. Walsh, is also a screenwriter and director.
