Martha Ellen Scott (September 22, 1912 – May 28, 2003) was an American stage and screen actress. She first gained wide attention by originating the role of Emily Webb in Thornton Wilder’s Our Town and subsequently got an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress reprising the role in Sam Wood’s film version. In the lengthy career that followed, she played prominent roles in the films The Ten Commandments (1956), Ben-Hur (1959), and The Turning Point (1977).

Scott was married twice, to Carlton W. Alsop and to composer Mel Powell. She had one child with Alsop and two with Powell. She died of natural causes at the age of 90.
