Tropes applying to Azuma or his works:
- He Also Did: Azuma headed his own doujin circle, "A-Zone", and even professionally published one H-manga under a pseudonym, before creating Azumanga Daioh and hitting the big time in a big way. Said H-manga involved Teacher/Student Romance with a middle-school boy. It's almost unbelievable that it's from the creator of such wholesome works.
- Slice of Life: Both Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba&! are notable examples, focusing on the characters' everyday lives in contemporary Japan rather than any overarching plotlines. Azumanga is especially well-known as the Trope Codifier for the Schoolgirl Series, which is a closely related Sub-Genre.
