Tropes related to Julianne Buescher include:

  • The Smurfette Principle: She seems to be this, as far as The Muppets Studio's puppeteer cast is concerned (Sesame Workshop doesn't have such a problem, as their cast of regular female Muppeteers is almost equal to their cast of male performers). Whenever a new female Muppet is introduced and they want a female voice for her, more often than not, Buescher is the performer they cast in that role. Not to mention, she was the only female performer on Muppets Now. Buescher was the only female to perform Classic/Main characters in The Muppets Take the Bowl and The Muppets Take The O2 live shows, though the cast included two other female Muppeteers (Carmen Osbahr and Karen Prell) as only additional performers. However, after 35 years of performing with The Muppets, Buescher has never been invited to be a Core Performer nor paid equally along side the male Muppeteers (nor has any other female Muppeteer since the Muppets began).
