John Logan (born September 24, 1961, in San Diego, California) is an American film producer, screenwriter, and playwright.

He's known for collaborating on the screenplays for the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre. He also wrote the play Peter and Alice, which explores a meeting between Alice Liddell Hargreaves and Peter Llewellyn-Davies, who as children inspired two famous fictional characters, Alice from Alice in Wonderland and the title character from Peter Pan.

His film and TV works include:

His theatrical works include:

His works include many shared tropes:

  • Author Appeal: Logan loves poetry, and has worked verses by writers like Shelley, Keats, Byron and Eliot into several works he has written, such as Penny Dreadful, The Time Machine, Skyfall and Alien: Covenant.
  • Production Posse:
    • Rory Kinnear played a supporting role in Skyfall, and joined Logan's Penny Dreadful as Frankenstein's Creature, and was the only one of that cast to be involved in the show post-cancellation.
    • Peter and Alice stars Ben Whishaw and Judi Dench as the titular characters, reuniting them after working together in Skyfall, which Logan helped write.
    • Logan himself has written two films each for Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: Not his characters, per se, but Logan's scripts are able to fluctuate between eloquent, highly theatrical flourishes and rather base, crude language.
