James Albert Michener (February 3, 1907 – October 16, 1997) was an American author, well-known for his very specific Signature Style: Doorstopper Historical Fiction novels marked by their use of Generational Saga, based in specific geographic locales (which lend the book their name) and incorporating detailed history.
