Tropes applying to his career:
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: Guillén identifies as queer. In an interview with Nerdist, he talked about getting to play a gay tech bro. And in What We Do In The Shadows, his character Guillermo eventually comes out as gay in the third season (though it had been hinted at from the start).
- Playing Against Type: He's primarily a comedic actor, and while Harley Quinn is still a comedy, Guillén is almost unrecognizable as Nightwing, with his The Comically Serious personality and deep, gruff voice (though Guillén's natural voice comes out whenever Nightwing is upset or panicking).
- Stage Names: He goes by Harvey because a teacher once had trouble pronouncing "Javier".
