Tropes associated with her work:
- Actor Allusion: In "Forever Charmed", Patty says she came "from 1975, how do I look?" as a nod to Finola's other job as a presenter of the series How Do I Look?
- The Cast Show Off: She was aptly called on to be a dancer in the film Staying Alive.
- Casting Gag: Wes Ramsey played her grandson in Charmed and her nephew in General Hospital.
- Fake American: Although playing her own nationality as Anna Devane, a good portion of her roles are Americans.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: Her schedule for General Hospital meant that she couldn't appear on Charmed as often as she would have liked - the episode "Witchstock" was written to be about Patty but had to be rewritten to focus on Penny instead when Finola proved unavailable.
