Eleanor Cameron was a Canadian author of children's books, perhaps best known for her "Mushroom Planet" books.

Tropes used

  • Anxiety Dreams: In The Court of the Stone Children, Nina dreams of trying to look up her phone number in the book although they have just moved there and wouldn't be in it. (She's already gotten lost once.)
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: In The Court of the Stone Children, the heroine dreams of a room, and seeing children in it; one says she wants to show her something. Later, she sees the room and tells the dream, resulting in the X-raying of a picture and a discovery about it.
  • Fungus Humongous: The Mushroom Planet books are, unsurprisingly, about a planet covered in mushrooms, many the size of trees.
  • Talking in Your Dreams: In The Court of the Stone Children, Nina dreams of a time when her home is taken apart and sent to a museum. Her dead father appears to tell her something.
