David Gerrold (born January 24, 1944) is an American screenwriter and novelist. Somewhat to his continued annoyance, he is probably most famous for writing the script for the original Star Trek episode The Trouble With Tribbles. He also has written scripts for programs such as Land of the Lost (1974), Sliders, Babylon 5, The Real Ghostbusters and The Twilight Zone (1985).

He won the Hugo and Nebula awards for his novel The Martian Child, which is a fictionalized account of his raising a neurodivergent son as a single gay father, and was adapted into a 2007 movie starring John Cusack.

In scifi fandom circles, he is somewhat infamous for his long-unfinished novel series The War Against the Chtorr, which depicts Earth being overwhelmed by an aggressive alien ecosystem.
