Daniel Davis (born November 26, 1945) is an American actor best known for Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Nanny, and The Hunt for Red October. Despite being an Arkansas native (Captain Davenport in The Hunt For Red October is an example of his natural accent), he's well-known for mastering a near-flawless Received Pronunciation accent and diction, which he used for perhaps his two most famous roles: Sheffield family butler Niles on The Nanny, and Professor James Moriarty on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Additionally, Davis also narrated the audiobook of Darth Plagueis, the Star Wars Legends novel that followed the infamous Darth Plagueis.
