"I really enjoyed acting on the show and it was a great first acting experience."

Caitlin (“cat-leen” in her native Irish, i.e. Cathleen) Blackwood (born 23 June 2000) is a Northern Irish-born Scottish actress who played the young Amelia Pond in Doctor Who. Her portrayal of the young girl who waited for the Doctor to take her away was a big hit with audiences, who were very happy when she returned for the 2010 season finale. She is actually a cousin of Karen Gillan, though the two did not meet until Doctor Who, and Caitlin auditioned for young Amelia at Karen's insistence. She returned in flashback, as well as holograms projected by the TARDIS and a prison for a Monster of the Week in series 6.

Roles:

  • Doctor Who (2010-2011 episodes) as young Amelia Pond and as a TARDIS interface hologram

Tropes associated with this actor include:

  • Acting for Two: Apart from the above roles, she can briefly be seen as a relative at Amy and Rory's wedding (presumably one of Amy's cousins).
  • Dawson Casting: Young Amelia Pond is seven in ‘’The Eleventh Hour’’. Blackwood was nine.
  • Real-Life Relative: Caitlin is Karen Gillan's cousin.
  • Timeshifted Actor: Caitlin previously played the younger version of Amy Pond on Doctor Who.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: The reason why Caitlin played a young Amy Pond in Doctor Who. Oddly, the cousins had not met much before the episode.
