Amelia Bayntun, (31 March 1919 — 19 January 1988), was a British character actress best known for playing Cockney, battle-axe women.

Her stage career began when she joined the Bristol Unity Players in 1937. When not working on stage, she and her husband ran a pub.

In 1960, she appeared on stage in Sparrers Can't Sing, both at the Theatre Royal Stratford East and in the West End. In 1962, she starred as Mrs. Blitzein in the musical Blitz!, playing the role in all 568 performances.

In her later years, she appeared in five Carry On films - mostly as nagging mothers - from Carry On Camping in 1969 to Carry On Abroad in 1972.

She died at the age of 68.
