Alan Armstrong (July 17, 1946), known professionally as Alun Armstrong, is a British actor. Armstrong is well known for his roles in both the stage and the screen, having even won an Olivier Award for his performance in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He also originated the role of Thenardier in the London production of Les Misérables, a role he would reprise for the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast in Concert filmed performance. In addition to the above, Armstrong is perhaps best known for his role as eccentric former detective Brian Lane in New Tricks, and for playing roles in various different Charles Dickens adaptations.
