- Ebrahim Mlama was a veteran of the 2nd Robotech War against the Robotech Masters.
- Gabe mentions the Sentinels Alliance from the Robotech: The Sentinels comics and novels.
- The privateer's father was a VF-1 Valkyrie veritech pilot in Skull Squadron during the Macross saga.
- Much of the dialogue from the radio broadcast of the 21st Mars Division is lifted straight from the Robotech episode "The Invid Invasion".
- Gabe namedrops Rick Hunter as the admiral in command of the Expeditionary Fleet.
- Laureline mentions United Earth Government officials stealing the world's money. This refers to the looting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Dire Straits.
- the Purifier Militia uses GR-01 Garlands (derived from the MODAT in Robotech: The Movie) and VHT-1 Spartas veritech hovertanks.
- Laureline's mother is implied to be a Zentraedi.
- Gabe's father was one of the original Zentraedi defectors along with Konda, Rico, and Bron.
- Gabe's father served in the Wolf Pack under Colonel Jonathan Wolff.
- The Founding Father of the Purifiers was a survivor of ethnic cleansing that took place during the Global Civil War (the same war that Roy Fokker fought in).
- Eli Wheatley and Walera Gashtar both served in the Pioneer Mission.
- Gabe and his team encounter another Genesis Pit.
- Rebekah Avital was a major supporting character in Dire Straits
- Hermes was a minor supporting character in Dire Straits.
- The E.V.E. was a supercomputer mentioned in Robotech: the Movie.
- In Chapter 24, Rebekah Avital summarizes the plot of Robotech: the Movie.
- Via a dream, the privateer witnesses the destruction of the original Invid homeworld, an event mentioned by the Invid Regess in Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles.
- Via more dreams, the privateer witnsesses the Invid's first contact with Tirol, the present Regess meeting Zor, the defoliation of Optera, and the rise of the current Invid Regent.
- The Robotech Research Center from Robotech: The Movie is now a major reisstance base against the Invid.
- Gabe and company meet Mark Landry and Stacy Embry from Robotech: The Movie.
- The privateer meets Nova Satori, who had been stranded on Earth after the Invid Invasion.
- Jack Emerson (a brigadier general in this story) was a major supporting character in Dire Straits
- General Emerson mentions speaking with a General Edwards from Expeditionary Command a few months back. Unknown to him, T.R. Edwards became an arch nemesis of the United Earth Forces, even taking over the Invid forces in space.
- The privateer and Itzak see the head of Skull One on display in a museum. Skull One was the VF-1S Valkyrie flown by Roy Fokker and Rick Hunter.
- the privateer and Gabe relay important intel to Marcus Rush and Alex Romero.
- The privateer and Orca Squadron participate in the Battle of New York, which was shown in the episode "the Big Apple". The squadron even makes radio contact with Scott Bernard.
- In the episode "Triumvirate", Dana mentions that she had a little brother. It turns out that said little brother was stranded on Earth after the Invid Invasion, only meeting his family after the Battle of Reflex Point.
- Bowie Grant still plays the piano, even fifteen years after the Masters saga.
