X-Men launched in 2010, originally written by Victor Gischler and then by Brian Wood. This series focuses on the role of the X-Men in the wider Marvel Universe, and features "guest characters" who didn't normally appear in X-books, such as Blade and Daredevil. As part of the Marvel NOW! line-wide relaunch in 2013, the series was canceled at issue #41.
Events
X-Men (2010) features examples of the following tropes:
- Guest-Star Party Member: Daredevil, Blade, the Future Foundation, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider and War Machine.
- No-Sell: When Lizard uses a machine to mutate most of the X-Men into lizard people, Emma Frost escapes this change because she transformed into her diamond state just in time.
- Suicide Attack: The series opens with a vampire suicide bomber, whose blood also triggers a Viral Transformation in anyone caught in the blast radius.
- Superman Stays Out of Gotham: The entire point of the series was to avert this and have the X-Men combat threats in the Marvel Universe as a whole.
- Villain Team-Up: One storyline saw the Lizard working with the Dark Beast, who enhanced the Lizard's ability to bring out the reptilian part of others by using a machine, allowing the Lizard to mutate most of the X-Men in moments.
