Created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert in 1955, the Viking Prince is a DC comics hero that debuted in The Brave and the Bold #1 in 1955.

The Viking Prince made a (posthumous) appearance in the Justice League episode "To Another Shore".

This comic book provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Jon's father King Rikk was renamed Earl Rollo for the graphic novel "Viking Glory: The Viking Prince."
  • Amnesiac Hero: Jon initially.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The early stories had the Viking Prince as an amnesiac wanderer given the name of "Jon" after a legendary Viking Prince. Later stories did away with the amnesia made Jon his actual name.
  • Horny Vikings: Naturally and the stories have never made an attempt to portray a realistic look of Norse life.
  • Human Popsicle: In one Sgt. Rock storyline, Jon is found preserved in ice during World War II.
  • Identical Grandson: Jon Riksson, a modern day Norwegian environmentalist superhero who teamed up with Batman.
  • Loincloth: The attire of Viking men basically.
