CAN LOVE BLOOM AT A BLOOD DRIVE?

All Bunny wants is to live a normal student life, but things aren't what they seem at Bloodhorne University! When she's swept off her feet by a dashing vampire girl, Bunny's forced to decide between sticking to her ideals - or getting sucked!

My Very First Vampire Blood Drive is a short Vampire Paranormal Romance Comedy comic by Mira Ong Chua. In 2020, Chua released a second installment set about one year later, in which an old friend of Bunny's drops in for a visit. Digital and physical versions of both installments are available for purchase through Chua's online store.

In 2021, Chua announced the intentions for a full graphic novel version of Vampire Blood Drive. This book, which was funded via Kickstarter like Chua's previous comics, contains the original two chapters as well as four new chapters. The book came out on February 24th, 2022. The full version can be purchased on Chua's online store, as well as on Itch.io.

Unlike Chua's previous graphic novels, this one is intended for adult audiences only.

Tropes appearing in Vampire Blood Drive include:

  • AB Negative: While describing all the unusual things about herself in her introduction, Bunny reveals her blood type is "the extra-rare type AB." As it turns out, Velvet has an unusual allergy which makes it so she can only drink type AB blood. Naturally, the two get paired up.
  • Asexual: Eli (Velvet's friend with the Hime Cut) is heavily implied to be asexual: she's the only one of Velvet's roommates who isn't flustered by Bunny's antics in Chapter 3, not even offering so much as a blush, and in the extras is the only one who doesn't participate in the vampire orgy with Anny (a caption helpfully states that she simply "doesn't care").
  • Bifauxnen: Bunny describes Velvet as looking like "a prince from a fairy tale" the first time she lays eyes on her and is immediately transfixed by her looks.
  • Butch Lesbian: Velvet, who Bunny describes as her "hot butch vampire girlfriend."
  • Chick Magnet: Velvet is seemingly an Everyone Magnet. Besides immediately charming Bunny in the first chapter and Anny in the second, Chapter 3 opens with Bunny bemoaning the fact that every human being they meet ends up smitten by her. The extras reveal that even the merman prince Agar seems to have fallen for her a bit.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Chapter 3 features Velvet's vampire roommates, giving their names and a little glimpse into their personalities and interests.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Cinder is often drawn with prominent eyebags which fits the fact that she seems to always be tired.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Every vampire in this comic seems to be perfectly friendly, but Velvet in particular is extremely kind and polite. Bunny describes her as "soft and achingly sweet-hearted."
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Bunny drains her wine glass in one go at her "wedding banquet" with Agar.
Waiter: A refill for the prince's new bride!
Bunny: Thanks. I'm gonna need it.
  • Lesbian Vampire: Velvet. This is also hinted to be the case with Velvet's vampire friends, particularly the one who openly wishes to drink the blood of "a hot girl with big boobs" at the end of Part 2.
  • Missing Reflection: A bonus comic reveals Velvet lacks a reflection, causing Bunny to become saddened about how she has no idea what she looks like. It turns Velvet is able to use her phone's camera function as a makeshift mirror.
  • Official Couple: Bunny and Velvet are dating by the end of the first comic and have been together for about a year in Part 2.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Vampires in this world can apparently go for extended periods of time without feeding, though at the cost of being weakened. Velvet mentions that she went an entire year without drinking blood in the first installment.
  • Plot Allergy: Velvet has an unusual blood allergy that makes it so she can only drink type AB blood. Bunny is the only one at the blood drive with that type, so the two get paired up.
  • Sex in a Shared Room: After bringing up the question of what Bunny wants Velvet to do after being worked up, she "suggests" one option by trailing her fingers along the hem of Bunny's very-short skirt while the two sit side by side at the bar in the vampire's lounge. With Bunny's consent, Velvet begins fingering her beneath the bar with no one the wiser... although Bastian is a bit confused by her yelps.
  • Sick Episode: The bonus chapter sees Velvet trying to look after Bunny when she gets a cold.
  • Sleepyhead: Cinder's main trait is her drowsiness, to the point that "library naps" are listed as her hobby.
  • Sweet Baker: Quince is very sweet and friendly and, in a somewhat cruel twist of irony, loves baking despite being unable to eat human food.
  • Vampire Hunter: The second installment in the series is about Bunny's high school friend Anny, who reveals herself to be the member of a family of famous vampire hunters, to Velvet's alarm and Bunny's horror. It turns out that Anny has never killed or even met a vampire before and by the end of the comic she renounces her vampire hunter ways, promising to not tell her family about the Bloodhorne vampires.
  • Voluntary Vampire Victim: The titular vampire blood drive held by Bloodhorne University is attended by voluntary human donors. Lala in particular seems to enjoy it. At the end of Part 1, after Bunny and Velvet get together, it's shown that Bunny still regularly drinks from her.
    • By the end of Part 2 Anny is eager to become a "blood donor" as well.
  • Wooden Stake: Anny reveals her status as a vampire hunter by presenting Bunny and Velvet with a wooden stake.
