Turma da Mônica e Garfield: O Lápis MágicoRough translation:  is a Crossover comic between Monica's Gang and Garfield published in 2022 by Panini Comics and Nickelodeon Brasil.

Marina's magic pencil is a special object. Not only can it bring drawings to life, but it can also take her to other universes. One day, Glu grabs the pencil and draws a portal taking him to Garfield's hometown of Muncie, Indiana. Hilarity Ensues.

The comic is divided into three volumes:

  1. Part 1 - An exposition, serving as a jumping off point in the comic.

  2. Part 2 - A horror comic of sorts where Monica, Garfield and their friends have to save Lemon Tree Street from a lasagna monster.

  3. Part 3 - Monica and Garfield travel to the world between worlds in the Magic Pencil.

Turma da Mônica e Garfield: O Lápis Mágico provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Compared to his normal outings, Garfield is nicer here, and he willingly helps Monica defeat Captain Fray and the lasagna monster.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Captain Fray summons a monster made entirely out of lasagna to wreak havoc across both Lemon Tree Street and Muncie, Indiana.
  • Black Comedy Animal Cruelty: Downplayed. In Vol. 2, Monica had no problems with hitting Nermal with her plush bunny Samson, but she only stopped herself once Nermal gave her directions to where the lasagna monster went.
  • Commonality Connection: Garfield and Maggy bond over their shared love of food in Vol. 1.
  • Crossover: Between the universes of Monica's Gang and Garfield.
  • Cuteness Proximity: In Vol. 2, Monica and her friends all fawn over Nermal and find him cute, much to Garfield's annoyance.
  • Demoted to Extra: Jon, Arlene and Nermal are not in Vol. 1 despite being present on the cover. They do appear in Vol. 2 to give Garfield and Monica's friends hints about where Captain Fray and the lasagna monster were, but that's it.
  • Interdimensional Travel Device: Marina's pencil allows her to travel to other worlds. Glu's misuse of the pencil is what initiates the crossover, as he accidentally draws a portal to Garfield's universe.
  • Jealous Pet: Vanilla is rather clingy towards Maggy, and he doesn't like it when another cat is inside the house. He lashed out at Garfield and threatened to kick him out of the house in Vol. 1.
  • Thought Bubble Speech: How Garfield communicates in the comic. He is aware that Monica can't read his thoughts, so he uses placards to communicate with her until Glu gives her and her friends devices that could help them understand him. Later on in Vol. 1, Maggy's cat Vanilla communicates with Garfield the same way.
