The Accords is an independent comic-book series created by Tony Ortega and Alex Garcia, and published by Phoenix Rising Creations.

Following a mysterious event on November 9, 2016, several ordinary individuals suddenly gain superpowers and a connection to the mysterious entity called Lynx. Together, they become the Accords, a superhero team dedicated to stopping the violent Morticana Order... when they're not arguing with each other.

This series contains examples of:

  • Adoption Angst: Raina was the product of an extramarital affair between her wealthy father and his secretary, who is implied to have been a Latina immigrant who was paid to return to her home country. When Raina found out, she cut her ties with her family and has been trying to make it on her own ever since.
  • The Alcoholic: Before becoming Corazon, Hector was an alcoholic and drug addict. He got clean after getting HIV, which forced him to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Segura is tall and muscular and quite attractive. According to her bio, one of her powers is that her makeup is always flawless.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Misster Haniel doesn't do gender binaries.
  • The Atoner: Grounder used to be a member of the Morticana Order until they attacked his childhood friend.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Seer's portrait is modelled on Michelle Rodriguez.
  • Forced Out of the Closet: After years of making a living in Hollywood as an actress, Seer was outed as a lesbian after a tabloid got a photo of her kissing her costar. While it didn't end her career, it did result in her being typecast.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Corazon's speech is peppered with Spanish words.
  • Jewish American Princess: Raina comes from a rich Ambiguously Jewish family that she still relies on to fund some of her activism, despite supposedly cutting ties with her parents because of her father paying her biological mother to give her up and leave the country.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Seer is a lesbian, but managed to stay in the closet for years because she wasn't stereotypically butch.
  • The Medic: Corazon has healing abilities.
  • President Evil: The unnamed President of the United States has ties to the Morticana Order. He's very much implied to be Trump, given what we can see of him in the first issue and the lines that his supporters trot out which are quite similar to the ones that Trump's own supporters give.
  • Rejecting the Inheritance: Raina is trying to survive on her own without her parents' help, although she does occasionally ask them for money to fund her activism.
  • Right Wing Militia Fanatics: The Morticana Order goes around harassing minorities, sometimes even resorting to terrorism.
  • Super-Scream: Howl has superpowered vocal chords.
  • Team Mom: Raina is nominally the team leader, but given how green everyone is, she feels more like a babysitter most of the time.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Most of the Accords belong to multiple minority groups. Segura, for instance, is an Afrolatina trans woman, while Corazon is a gay Cuban-American, and Sire is a pansexual trans man.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: The Morticana Order has its own PR department, which helps it to pretend that the terrorist acts committed by its members are actually the work of a rogue faction.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: The main thing holding the team together is the fact that they were all summoned by Lynx. Beyond that, they have very different worldviews.
