Morris is a slug monster who lives in a world populated by a wide variety of monsters. In this world, all that is gross and scary are the norm, and much preferred.
Simone is a human girl who has found herself in Morris' world. She likes all things cute and cuddly, which puts her at odds with the monster world, for whom that is the stuff of nightmares.
Despite this, the two have developed a close friendship with each other.
The book was published in 2017.
Simone: The Best Monster Ever contains examples of:
- Anthropomorphic Food: One of the denizens of the monster world is a living broccoli.
- Bedsheet Ghost: There are some of these as background characters. Simone dresses up like one for Halloween in "Pretty Scary".
- Christmas Episode: There are a number of strips that have to do with Christmas.
- Eye on a Stalk: Morris' eyes are on stalks, him being a slug monster.
- Giant Medical Syringe: In "Take Your Medicine", Simone is trying to get Morris to get over his fear of getting shots from the doctor. She tells him it's just one tiny needle, while the doctor is seen carrying a massive one.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Santa Claus is a Spider Person with four arms in this comic.
- Our Monsters Are Different: There's a wide variety of monsters in Morris' world.
- Santa Claus: In this comic, he's a giant, four-armed monster with loads of legs.
- Snowlems: In one strip, Morris explains that monsters don't really do building snowmen because, in his world, they tend to come to life and become attached to their builders.
- Valentine's Day Episode: The strip "Chocolate!" has Simone explaining the concept of Valentine's Day to Morris. He becomes interested when she mentions chocolate's involved, since he knows eating too much makes you throw up.Morris: I love holidays that make you throw up.
