Silk (subtitled Threats and Menaces for the collected edition) is a 2021 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics.

Set in the shared Marvel Universe, it's one of several series starring Cindy Moon, the titular Silk, a superhero who was bitten by the same radioactive spider as Spider-Man, developing similar powers.

Cindy spent a decade isolated in a bunker, warned that her powers would attract other-dimensional predators to the world. Now she's slowly piecing her life back together, protecting New York, reuniting her family and taking a job as a journalist.

When a hi-tech gangster with a demonic ally tries to take over from some of New York's existing organized crime families, Silk finds herself facing two very different foes. And that situation gets even more complicated when a well-known supervillain takes a very personal interest in events...

Silk contains examples of the following tropes:

  • All Therapists Are Muggles: Cindy's usual therapist is Dr. Marie Porter, who's aware of her powers and secret identity. However, in this arc she's not available and her replacement is Max, a normal therapist who knows nothing about Cindy's secrets. Cindy isn't prepared to tell him, which makes their sessions less useful to her. It's subverted with the reveal that he's the half-brother of villain Saya Ishii, placed there to monitor Cindy, and already knows all about her secret identity.
  • Evil Versus Oblivion: Saya Ishii is trying to expand her criminal organization into New York. Her ally and enforcer is the cat-demon Kasha. However, Kasha's actually a Dragon with an Agenda, trying to release demonic horrors back into the world - which eventually means that Saya's forced into an Enemy Mine alliance with Silk to stop her.
  • Recycled Title: As with Cindy's two previous solo titles, the comic is simply called Silk. The collected editions add a subtitle, Threats and Menaces, to help disambiguate it.
  • Retronym: The series was originally published as simply Silk (a Recycled Title), but became Silk: Threats and Menaces for the collected edition.
