Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos is a 2015 Marvel Comics limited series written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Salvador Espin.
The series is part of the Secret Wars (2015) event, set at a time when reality has been remade and the only remaining planet is Battleworld, a patchwork of different realms held together by the will of Doctor Doom.
In Battleworld, the Monster Metropolis is a domain inhabited by an assortment of monsters and supernatural creatures, such as it's governor, Baron Dracula, and his Howling Commandos which consisted of Frankenstein's Monster, Invisible Man, Man-Thing, Marcus the Centaur, N'Kantu the Living Mummy, and Werewolf by Night.
However, Shiklah is not pleased with Dracula, as Deadpool was defeated and killed by Dracula in his battle for Shiklah's hand in matrimony, as Dracula cheated by using his powers.
Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos provides examples of:
- Downer Ending: Shiklah challenges Dracula and though all of the supporting cast is killed, she ends up prevailing. Then she ignores Ghost Deadpool and decides to challenge Doom's rule, resulting in Thor Corps showing up and Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies wiping all of the resistance out.
- Crusading Widow: Shiklah becomes this after Deadpool was killed by Dracula.
- "Everybody Dies" Ending: The series ends with not just the main cast, but literally everyone in Monster Metropolis dying. First the majority of the main cast bites the dust in the final battle against Dracula, then the Thors come in and kill literally everyone still left standing.
- Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: Marvel's limited but still-canon run of Godzilla comics is referenced by Shiklah and the Howling Commandos finding Godzilla's skeleton in a monster-filled part of Battleworld.
- Monster Mash: The Howling Commandos are made up of Shiklah, Werewolf by Night, N'Kantu the Living Mummy, the Invisible Man, Frankenstein's Monster, Man-Thing, and Marcus the minotaur with a symbiote trying to overthrow Dracula.
- Off with His Head!: Marcus gets his head chopped off by Dracula with one clean sword-swing.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad: Dracula has his Howling Commandos.
- Spirit Advisor: Deadpool returns as a ghost to act as this for Shiklah.
- Take Up My Sword: Shiklah seems to be rechristened as "Ms. Deadpool", due to the fact that her husband, Wade Wilson himself, ends up dying at the end of his run prior to Secret Wars starting.
